I do hope Moyes hasn't calculated that the line of attack through Baines wasn't missed toward the end of last season and that bringing in these players to service one (who's well already thank you very much) and flogging off Baines is the way to go.

That'd be one hell of a gamble.

Well I hope not but then, if it came down to it and we had to sell either him or Fellaini, the fact that we showed that we can cope without Baines would make him a more reasonable candidate to be sold.

Without Fellaini we just look flimsy and so much weaker, whereas without Baines we can function the same pretty much, we just lack that dynamism down the left flank.

I sincerely hope we don't sell Baines because generally fullbacks don't go for that much, nor do Everton players these days, so the difference between what we'd get for him and what he's worth to us would be painfully disparate.

I think it was Aidey who suggested Moyes does not want rid of Baines. Any movement to push him out the door is down to Kenwright.

Honestly, Baines is the one irreplaceable in our lineup for my money. Even more so than Fellaini, because as good as he is, DM's are much easier to unearth than LB's.

Agree 100%. I just said this on the Baines thread actually.

But I'd argue that a good DM is far more important to your game than a LB.

And calling Fellaini a DM these days doesn't paint the whole picture. Marouane runs our entire midfield at the moment, and is a leviathan going forwards and backwards.

True. Losing Felli would change the dynamic of our team for sure, but we've had great success with typical DM's like Carsley and Graveson and others in the past. I still think Rodwell can be a top DM if he can stay healthy.

Fellaini is totally different to any other player in the prem.
Can play dm or offensive. Totally dominates other players.
Rather lose baines myself IF we had to let one go.
