I can't think of a striker who is decent enough that would come in knowing they'd be back up, is my point. Lukaku will start every game when fit, simple. I'd rather us spend money on somebody who is going to improve the first XI - so a left forward/winger (whatever you wan't to call it) to replace Kone, or a goalkeeper.

Maybe if there was an alternative to Lukaku he'd get rested more?

Naismith offers us an alternative in a few areas but he's the only real back up to Lukaku, if he goes and Lukaku get injured we're up the creek without a forward.

gone for 8m to norwich. decent business if we replace well. good servant, always tried his best and deserves to be playing week in and week out to be honest, just not at our level.
What particular level are you talking about here? NSNO?- thats dead and buried. Top 4? ha ha. A Cup? not won anything for over 20 years. Mid Table? Ah that's it .....

Kone fills the Lukaku role if needed. We still have Kev to play left or play Lennon Right and shift Del over. I'll miss Naisy, but if he goes, that's perfectly fine. I don't think he'd be missed too much and it's probably best for all involved.

I see your point, but he's not of the same quality of Delboy, Barkley, Lukaku or Stones - these are the level of players we need to be consistent with now

Lukaku doesn't need resting though - he's probably our only player who hasn't looked tired at one point or another this season and he is riding a huge wave of confidence at the moment.

We need a player who can ideally come in and be a starter to help support Rom in the way that Kone has, IMO, but offers more quality.

A back up forward, perhaps on loan, may then be the way to go, but as I pointed out, getting a quality back up striker is not always easy. Personally always thought Joel Campbell would be brilliant as a signing, but looks like he's now cemented a starting spot at Arsenal.

I was under the impression that any deals had to wait until completion of the takeover?

Isn't this just an exclusivity period where the Yanks go through the books? I would be amazed if it includes a block on transfer activity during that time; it would be in no-ones interests (certainly not when it comes to selling him, anyway).

Not really good enough skills wise, but always gave his all and sometimes his effort made things happen. Was increasingly going to struggle to get on the pitch so at least he's got enough about him to want to play every week and push to move, glad we're letting him move too. Will do OK at Norwich.
Can only assume that we have some sort of replacement lined up, Kone and Kev would leave us far too toothless if the worst was to happen to Rom.

Wont make any difference imo.

Honestly don't know mate, that's why I was asking. For some reason just had that in my head that the books are closed until it's gone through once it's in motion(the takeover)

Cant see it. The same logic would mean we cant sell programmes or pies either.
