£8m for a player who never plays is boss mate.
I totally agree. Every player has a price and £8m for Naismith, who as you say isn't playing, could be seen as a very good deal indeed.

Yet, I still believe that his departure is leaving us slightly thin in numbers, and unless we have a replacement in mind then it's risky business.

If we utilise the funds to bring someone in this window then great. If we don't, then we may just be setting ourselves up for failure.

Equally we may not as Rom and Koné may be fine, however it's not a risk I would personally be happy to take. Should be one out and one in.

Basically said... £8m is great for Naismith if we then use it. If it just goes in the bank then it's not.

By all accounts that picture has been Mrs Naismith's Twitter profile pic for ages.

I call shenanigans.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez set to enter transfer market as Steven Naismith nears exit

The Scotland international has done a U-turn and agreed to join the Canaries in an £8m deal with a medical scheduled for Monday

Roberto Martinez is ready to move into the transfer market - after finally getting Steven Naismith out of the door.
Scotland international Naismith has done a U-turn and agreed to join Norwich in an £8million deal with a medical scheduled for Monday.
Naismith backed out last week to see if other clubs would come in but the Blues made it clear they wanted him to go to help raise funds.
But the deal is back on after Norwich persuaded him to move to Carrow Road with the promise of regular games which he was not getting at Everton.

Toffees boss Martinez is desperate to strengthen his squad in January and is ready to shake up his squad with the Naismith funds.
They have already moved for Leeds’ £5m-rated Sam Byram and have also made enquiries about Derby’s England under-21 midfielder Will Hughes.
Their bigger target is Dynamo Kiev’s winger Andriy Yarmolenko as Martinez has refused to deny an interest in the Ukraine forward.
Yarmolenko, 26, is a long standing target for Martinez who wants to get him now rather than risk waiting until the summer when more clubs might move in.

Good luck to him. Will Hughes - serious knee injury in August and out for 6 months. Still not playing or on the bench.
