Steven Naismith

He will try to rotate i think so as to have some experienced heads in the Reading game whilst keeping players fresh for the league games, can see Naimsith and Osman and Kone all playing in the cup and Barry, Lukaku and Barkley being rested, how that effects the league games before and after i dunno though
I think it swings on which opponent is likely to allow us to facilitate our pace and which will be more conservative.

I don't like Monk, tbh. I think he's made Swansea pretty cynical away from home, but he opens it up at home. They'll go toe to toe with us, and they'll see the last few encounters as evidence that confirms this as a good policy. We'll be under the cosh a bit and will need to use the possession we have carefully. Not a game for a man who can't find his arse with both hands.

I dont think Martinez would have appreciated Naismith's veiled criticism at being left out from the start of the season after the Chelsea game. He tried to use that hattrick to place pressure on the manager to play him from the off. It'd have had the opposite affect on me: I'd have told him straight off that he should leave team selection issues to me and that he wont get a start next game. It was very disrespectful to his manager and I hope Martinez does bench him to send that message out.

I trust that he'll pick the correct team, however he decides to play it. I got the impression from that interview that he wants the competition for places to be kept very high, which is a good thing. The interview with Mirallas this week reassures me that he is ready to give his all and prove his point, like Naismith did last week.

I don't think Naismith is the type that is going to sulk if he's not getting picked, he'll continue to work hard regardless. It's possible that the deadline day bid unsettled him a bit, which may explain his exclusion from the Scotland team v Germany.

Monk will have them pressing us high up mate, same as they did last season so in theory should be open for the counter attack if we have pace their, Chelsea with their lack of pace allowed us to counter without needing the likes of Deulofeu or Mirallas on - cue Naismith tearing them apart and he's not the fastest.

West Brom under Pullis will sit back even at home and look to play it almost the same way they'd set up at our place, that strangely out the next 5 games is the one i have least confidence in ...

Naismith's a good squad player. I've always maintained though that if we have to start a player like him (in a Martinez set up) then something has gone terribly wrong. It's obvious the manager likes him and he'll get game time, but I hope and believe that will be at the right time and for the right opposition. We went down the road of Naismith the starter last season and the movement was shocking.

Can't stand Monk, whys his hair the same colour as his face?

But yeah their performance at Goodison last year was almost anti-Swansea. I hope they go for it tomorrow because I think that'll suit us better.

Thing is Dave, the shouts of he has to start etc, can tell ya right now if Hibbert played and scored and had a blinder i wouldnt care less and he'd be sat on the bench behind coleman next game again

Who am i kidding i'd go mental bouncing around if he ever scored like

On the bench for me.

Swansea away is perfect to play both Lennon and Mirallas. There will be times when we are going to soak up a lot of pressure and having these two playing to hit quick and fast on the break would give Swansea a lot of problems. Playing the counter attacking game with speed and precision should never go through Steven Naismith, ever. Might seem a tad unfair on Kone too but we simply have to adapt to the way the opposition play and take advantage.

Spot on mate. My reading of the next few games exactly.

I want progress in the cup as well mate, showed against spurs that two games in a week we can expect a really flat performance afterwards frpom a lot of them, so rest Naismith, Kone and ensure we have a few experienced older players against Reading who aren't goosed

He's defo added something to the mix at Swansea. Something bitter and sly.

It's a brave call to leave Naismith out. Win, lose or draw I'd like to see him do it...although he probably knows he'll be pilloried if he left him out and we struggled.

I also think given Naismith or Mirallas on the bench the one whose more likely to do something to change a game or close it out if needed and it isn't super kev mate as he bloody well sucks as a sub 90% of the time

Flip side Dave - if he leaves him out and we stomp all over Swansea - or should he come on and change the game dramatically, he will get a lot of credit from both inside and outside the squad

It's all just speculatuion, he equally could have laid to Deulofeu, Lennon, Mirallas etc that if they impressed in training they'd be in for x,y,z games etc a few weeks ago, no one really knows outside the camp how he works the rotation of the squad

Monk is like one of them geckos you see on holiday, the translucent ones where you can see all their bits inside.

LOL, mate i have no idea if i actually rate him as a manager or if he's just not been found out yet

Also have Naismith and Monk ever been seen in the same room together at the same time?

mirrallas, deulofeu and lennon will prob be very good subs in this match and will prob more likley to make an impact in this game than naismith would
