Steven Naismith

I also think given Naismith or Mirallas on the bench the one whose more likely to do something to change a game or close it out if needed and it isn't super kev mate as he bloody well sucks as a sub 90% of the time

Flip side Dave - if he leaves him out and we stomp all over Swansea - or should he come on and change the game dramatically, he will get a lot of credit from both inside and outside the squad

It's all just speculatuion, he equally could have laid to Deulofeu, Lennon, Mirallas etc that if they impressed in training they'd be in for x,y,z games etc a few weeks ago, no one really knows outside the camp how he works the rotation of the squad
It'd be perfect if RM benched Naismith and we got the result, tbh. What a message that'd send out. Total vindication for his words about no one guaranteed a place this season. Players would respect that too.

mirrallas, deulofeu and lennon will prob be very good subs in this match and will prob more likley to make an impact in this game than naismith would
Maybe, but that doesn't mean we cant start one and then turn to those others rather than Naismith off the bench. As bluestevon suggests, we'll be pressed here tomorrow. If that is the case we'd be better getting a shift out of someone who can break on them with pace and also have that to come on. I think Mirallas might be that sub tomorrow. He'll surely know by now that if and when he does get on he'll be scrutinised as much for what he does off the ball as on it...and he'll have that lethal pace to burn against a tiring defence.

maybe swansea players will be fooled into thinking naismith is the scotish messi and spend all their time worryin about him, meanwhile barkely and lukaku waltz through and score a couple lol

It's a good point actually, I'm sure Monk will expect Naismith to start after the hat trick last week. They may be preparing for Naismith, Martinez could catch them cold by surprising a few with his selection

Preparing for naismith is akin to putting a seatbelt on on a plane that's about to nosedive into a building. It's futile

Whilst Naismith wouldn't be my first choice to start on the wings vs Swansea given the likely counter attacking nature of the game, I think it'd send totally the wrong message to the other lids sat on the bench. 'So this guy scores a hatty from the bench and still can't get a game?'

I think we'll line up in a similar system to how we did against Southampton, given Swansea play a relatively similar way to them.

Only difference will be Naismith for Cleverley. I'd like to see Mirallas in for Kone, but Kone does stop Lukaku becoming as isolated. But if Coleman doesn't start, I'd probably look to get Lennon in down that right side to add protection.

Hopefully Browning is given a go at RB if Coleman is injured, Stones is wasted there IMO.

Yeah this really.

If we are all honest and we picked our own best 11s, he would be nowhere near it. But it'd be super harsh to drop a hat trick hero.

Thing is ijjy, my mind goes back to the like of Solskjaer especially but countless others who have made a career out of the super sub role, Solskjaer had some absolute blinders off the bench but started the week after back on their as it was basically what he did best

Would be incredibly harsh and unfair to drop someone who just scored a hattrick.

Rubbish mate, it's entirely about what team is best to get the result on Saturday that matters and with one eye on the team he will want for the cup in mind as well

For everyone saying can't drop a bloke who comes on as a sub and scores a hatrick, what exactly is the benchmark for a sub becoming a must start player the next game, 1 goal, 2 goals, 3? how many assists would mean you have to start him, or if he's say a cb is their a number of blocks, tackles or headers won that you then say he must start the following week?

Also, how long does it give you credit for? 1 game, 2 or until the next sub hits the right number

So if he scores a hattrick coming off the bench this weekend again will he merit a start? Deserves the credit for putting in a blinder performance and also deserves the reward and chance to kick on.
