Hugely valuable squad player, but I think that may not be enough for him. I think he wants to play every week and will be prepared to go to a lesser club just to play.
I think that is commendable , but I think the manager may be forced to sell him, just to be fair to the player, as it is getting harder to see where he will get regular football ahead of Baines, Gibson, Besic, Cleverley, Mirallas, Lennon and Osman who are all out of the team just now and that is not even talking about Jakielka, Oviedo, Pienaar and Browning who all are coming back from injury.

8m may just be too good to turn down.

Got a good feeling he'll be out the door in january. Can certainly see a Norwich/Bournmouth/Villa taking a punt on him, in the hope of bagging vital goals for them.

The impetus last time round seemed to be he wanted first team footy for his Euro2016 prospects. That's out the window now. I agree though, I can see him wanting out in January. I fear that the insane £8M offered will be about £5M now though.

Was strangely thinking that myself.
It's like a default setting, we've had a disappointing result, what next?.
I know, start Naismith
.

I'll forever associate his time here with that sort of thinking. You know something's gone wrong when he's named as a starter.

He's like the football version of when a window smashes and you have to cover the gap with some hardboard until you can get hold of the new glass pane.

I'm hoping we get another ~8 mil bid for Naisy and take it. He's a great squad player and can be fantastic off the bench, but if we're going to keep hold of our best players AND try and maintain a squad capable of competing in the league, cups and Europe, we need to get in the habit of selling squad players at the peak of their value. The 5-10 million fee that most of our current squad players (obv. not McGeady) would command is enough to replace them with one or two younger players. Our scouting network is clearly adept at finding useful players for cheap, so I don't doubt that the sale of players like Naismith could go towards a player or two who are at least as capable. I don't want to see Naismith past his sell-by date in Everton colors. He's been a great squad player, but for the good of the team going forward he needs to be off-loaded before he's crocked or tired (see: Pienaar, Osman).

He's not Everton class. Never was and never will be.

Last 20 minutes sub.

He's certainly not among the players most would describe as class and will never be a legend. But if you mean to say he's not good enough for the shirt, I disagree. He's definitely not a starter, but he's miles ahead of so many players that have worn the blue of everton that is seems pretty silly to say "he's not everton class," with that being the implication. Let's not forget he's managed 9 goals in each of the last two seasons, not many subs in recent Everton history can say that. I hope I'm not misinterpreting what you wrote, just seems unclear what you intended to say. Or, how it was a response to what I wrote since I didn't call him class and said we should sell him and reinvest in younger squad players.

It wasn't a criticiism of you. I just have the opinion he's not the type of player we should ever go out looking to bring in. Someone capable of passing a ball consistently to their own team mates is a basic requirement and he fails that.

He's huff and puff, but he can do damage to the opposition when tasked with nothing else to do...which is what a sub coming on when we're down should be allowed to do, imo: gamble and go for broke without a thought for position when a move breaks down. He's good at that. He senses vulnerability in the box. But that's a world away from accepting him as a starter.
