What makes you think Redmond can improve and Bolasie can't mate? I see Bolasie's main weakness is his inconsistency and the fact his numbers often don't back up his talent.

When I look at them both I see Bolasie as the lad with a better build and higher ceiling.

Hes come up through the leagues but i think hes hit his ceiling...

For us, at this moment in time, Williams and Bolasie for the money we got for Stones, with change left over for Gana is the "better deal".

But, given how the window ended, if Koeman could have persuaded Stones to stay and get his head straight, we'd have been better off keeping Stones and spending the TV money and some of Moshiri's cash on Williams, Bolasie and Gana.

Stek was a nominal fee and Gueye was £7.1mil...and the less said about Valencia the better. We could have signed them with no sales.

Going off the higher numbers quoted for Bolasie (£28mil) and Williams (£12mil) it matches the £40mil we ended up with for Stones after paying Barnsley and i think their agent fees and signing bonuses would cover any difference.

So the question is...what would you prefer, Stones OR Bolasie + Williams?
Bolasie and Williams.

Stones is good - Williams is more assured, Bolaise may be ace.

If I am honest with you Woolly, I don't believe Stones could have been persuaded to stay even a Spanish inquisitor had spoken in his ear'ole.

He never stopped wanting away after last summer and IMO his performances for most of last season reflected his unhappiness.

Williams is just a better defender, I'm not even totally convinced the penny will eventually drop with Stones even after that Row Z article, he'll always put himself in a situation where he'll want to take a risk. It's how he wants to play the game.

I pretty much agree with you mate. If I thought we could push on for a Champions League spot this season then I think it'd have been worth with putting up with a not totally motivated Stones and then reap the benefit the season after, but that would be a very long shot and I can see why Stones was sold.

He wasn't unprofessional last season, I wouldn't say he didn't try or anything, but his mind was elsewhere and, going forward his head plainly wouldn't have been 100% with us so it worked out OK all round, it's just a shame we havn't been able to take financial advantage of the situation.

Stones

Looked forward to watching him play in every game, even when in bad form

I hope I am wrong, but I think Williams will be here for just another period of Everton just being Everton. He will do a great job in defense I'm sure, but I don't see Koeman being the manager to bring us up a level. And well Bolasie is just another normal Prem player that goes from poor to average to good on a regular basis. So having said that I'd much prefer watching a no trophy Everton with Stones in the side rather than Williams and Bolasie.

Obviously, this is hypothically assuming Stones stayed and accepted the situation whether it was his first choice or no.

...and apologies to Ron if he turns out to be boss and wins us everything.

Taking a longer term view, Stones for me...
That being said, if Williams and Bolasie can deliver then we can probably add a place or two over Stones for the next couple of years, until the point Williams starts to decline and Stones surpasses him. That in itself could open us to better players in the transfer window.
Bolasie has impressed me more than I had anticipated, but if he wasn't there, Mirallas, Deulofeu or Lennon would of taken up the slack without the game being massively different I suspect.

Cant believe Stones has come out and said 'Guardiola has taught me row Z'. Who needs to be taught that even children know thats the best option when defending sometimes!! What a tool !!!

Yep if stones wanted to stay and signed a new contract then it's a different question but a small group of fans didn't get stones and hated the way he wouldn't boot the ball out of play.

And it seems Guardiola is in agreement with that small group of fans whom instinctively know that sometimes booting the ball out of play is the safest option

Everybody is taught that in Primary school.

Pep hasnt told him diddly, hes just having a pop at El Fraudo.

He has a bad right to.

Without El Fraudo, faults and all, his career wouldn't nearly be as far advanced as it is.

Seems he is just sore that Bobby finally saw what the rest of us were seeing last season and benched him.
