July Morning. There's a bad omen.
yes mate, things do not augur well.

The lyrics strongly suggest Stonsey is leaving for a new home:

There I was on a July morning
Looking for love
With the strength of a new day dawning
And the beautiful sun
At the sound of the first bird singing
I was leaving for home

Has this so called second transfer request any substance to it other than a report in the Echo ?

I do find it surprising that a young player who has done so well at Everton is so absolutely determined to get away as quickly as he can. It's hardly as if his career has been stunted by playing for Everton, last season the manager lost games and valuable points by continuing to play John Stones even though he was horribly out of form(something that happens to even the best of young players)
I don't believe it is the money, certainly last season under RM the club would have practically given him anything he would want to stay.
Last season we said that it was the attraction of Chelsea and Mourinho , this season it is Man City and Guardiola(a renowned defensive coach ?), who next ?
It can't be that he has fallen out with the manager as he has gone and we have a new one, it can't be argued anymore that we are paupers and can not compete(that still is to be proven one way or the other).
But, we are a totally different outfit to even twelve months ago, and yet he still wants out.

Just the echo mate.

The video of our supporter screaming "Stones yer rattt!!!" will haunt me for the rest of my life
We can only guess at the love and support that would engulf John Stones at Chelsea or City if by overplaying he concedes goals which costs them games, or the overwhelming acceptance and understanding from all parties both club and supporters when he tells them that he wants to move onto the next club that turns his agents head.
Maybe as a professional footballer the player and his agent might realise that handing in a transfer request will turn supporters against you.
This is even more true when those very same supporters had adopted him as one of their heroes .

May have been asked before but in the 50+ years of following the club I am struggling to think of only a couple of former players who left and went on to bigger and better things i.e. Lineker and Rooney. Others may have left to clubs and careers on a similar par to that at Everton but very, very few have actually gone on to have stellar careers and I suspect Mr Stones may well become just another of that number.

I really do hope he goes on to fulfill his immense potential and wish it was with us but, ultimately, that is all it currently is....potential.

As Old Whiskey Nose (SAF) once said about a team that Manure were due to play...'On their day they can beat anyone. It's just finding the day!'. And I think the same could be said for Stones - on his day he can/could be a world beater but it's just finding the day and, more importantly, the consistency. That is why in my view if Man City do table £50m it is too good an offer to turn down especially as his heart and mind have already vacated the premises.
Bobby Collins to Leeds United

Even if Sam is in the job until the World Cup, Stones style may make it difficult for him to get a regular game in an Allardice type team. Don't get me wrong...Stones is a good player, but Allardyce is one of the most thorough managers around...very big into stats, mental make up of players, etc. and this might cause Stones problems for England. One thing Allardyce won't do defensively is play the percentages...e.g....'Stones is good so we'll allow him the odd mistake when he's fannying around' Sam just won't put up with it.

Oh I don't disagree mate, I'm just saying the road is long with many a winding turn

JS has the potential to be a great defender but is far from the finished article. So IF the 53m that is being put around is right do it.

Replace him with 2 defenders in the 25m bracket....ones who may not have the potential but who are solid already. Players like VVD, or even Ryan Shawcross, Im sure Koeman has a list. At that money though we cant afford to turn it down, we may have money, but were by no means super minted, and while theres some good talent in the team, the squad and certain positions need sorting.

I like JS, and fair dos, if he wants to play in Europe, let him, butas a club we cant turn down such good money

FFS this post was fanatastic..... and you just had to go and say that. VERY, VERY QUESTIONABLE!

There's a strong arguement for that man potentially ruining or momentarily hindering the development of players such as Stones, Barkley etc...
