I get that our wage bill is too high and Brands nd Silva May have some biggish names they want to go after but need to free up salaries. Brands has brought some very good South Americans over fir not much money. These were the sort of signings I was looking forward to and surely would not cost that much. This is what is making me think the only money available is what the sell.

Disagree a little with this... My personal, uninformed, view is that Moshiri has said he wants the wage bill reducing as much as possible and some money recouped before he loosens the purse strings.

I also think that this necessity was clearly outlined to Brands and Silva, and if they're able to achieve the reductions and sales, he will back them as they're clearly employed to and do work as a team, not as individuals working against each other.

Paulinho has re-signed for his old club in china on a years loan.
That can pretty much put a stop on any shouts that barca need to get rid of yerry mina for the non-eu player rule
Maybe they want to get rid anyway or send on loan fir a season or two. Everyone has jumped on the EU thing. Rumours our they are buying a new CB Langlett or something like that.

I think they’re signing a Brazilian player Arthur, provided that he is their only non-eu player signed then you’re right they wouldn’t need to get rid of any others - but it still puts them on the maximum of their allowed players

The thing I find really frustrating is the power players have which makes all this nonsense so much harder and drawn out.

I couldn't cope being the manager.

I'd have already pulled mirallas Williams etc to one side and told them using much industrial language to sling their hooks and fInd another team.

Reality is they can laugh in your face and go nah I like the wages your paying me.

....it’s a great time to be an ordinary top flight player, it’s an even better time to be one in demand but let’s not forget all the young players clubs release. The rewards are unbelievable for the few but life can still be tough for the many that are discarded.

I agree, though, it is frustrating.

Not too sure about that.

I don't believe that Marcel Marco would have joined on the premise that they need to raise funds to buy new players as it is obvious how difficult it is to shift dross on big wages

I think that’s exactly what Brands is here for. Buy cheap up and coming players from around the world and flog them on for profits, all the while moving older players on who aren’t adding value. Silva wanted to come to us when he was at Watford and when they were lying 4th in the table.

I’m sure the last thing a DOF would want is to have a new manager trying to implement his strategy/ideas/philosophy etc while there are a significant number of players at the club who simply shouldn’t be there and/or are unwanted by the club.

It’s where we are at the moment and if we can get enough shifted we shouldn’t have the same upheaval in 12 months time. We only have a finite wage bill and off loading the likes of Rooney, Bolasie, Mirrales, Williams etc makes good economic sense.
