Genuine question though, do you go to the games?

If you don't then I can see the logic in what you're saying, because it makes no odds to you. It does to me though, because I don't find spending a load of time and money on going to watch a team which has decided it has no interest in competing to be a particularly appealing prospect. Last season was awful as a matchgoing fan, and another one like that would sap the energy of the fanbase to a dangerous extent in my opinion. Fans will be patient if they believe it's going to be worth it in the end, but there's only so many kicks in the teeth they'll accept.

Oh come on mate.

You're better than using the 'do you go the game' argument.

There's plenty of reasons people can't get to games. Doesn't make them any less of a fan.

I only got to the Sevilla friendly last season, because my job involves me working weekends (clearly). It doesn't mean I care any less and I still pay my club membership. It does make odds to fans who aren't at the game, just as it does to somebody who is there.

Yes, I’m an ex-STH.

I understand your point but where did I say the team wouldn’t be competing on the pitch? They’re still going out there to win I just mean the club won’t be pumping money in this summer to get us nearer the Top 4.
You said you were happy for it to be a 'complete non event'. If I read a report about a team's season which said 'it was a complete non event' then I would assume they hadn't been particularly competitive, it's hardly a massive leap i'm making.

Non-event in terms of not making any statement signings, not challenging the Top 4, but establishing a style of play and finishing top half again. I can wait another season if needed before we can make a real push.

I just think it's a case of making sure we get value for money this time around.

In the meantime, Silva is been given time to assess the squad. I'm sure there are certain players (like Besic, Mirallas, Williams) who if an offer comes in for, will be gone. We have already seen this with Funes Mori. But in the meantime they're still part of the squad so will be treated as such.

He definitely couldn’t play for us this season so a loan is the best we can do.

It's Turkish clubs that I worry about. They are horrible snides with regards transfers. If Anderlecht tried to screw us to get him another season, you can bet that Galatasary would try anything they can!

Not sure to be honest. Would have been good to have him and Tosun competing this season. Would mean we could offload Sandro and/or Niasse

Onyekuru isn't a striker like Tosun though. They're not similar at all. So even if we could - which we can't - it'd be pointless in that sense. Might as well see if Sandro can cut it.

Also, if Niasse does go, we need to bring in somebody who is going to be a nuisance and get us the 9 goals he did last season.

If you care to actually read what we're talking about, you'll see that it's nothing to do with being a 'better blue'. I was asking a genuine question to better understand the effect that regular poor performances would actually have on the individual.

Going to the game actually matters when you're talking about certain things. If somebody says, I don't really care if my local supermarket stocks bread, it's fair to ask whether they actually shop there. Same here, it's perfectly valid to say that those who've spent a fortune on a season ticket may be more bothered about the product on the pitch than those who'll just watch match of the day. I know loads of blues who said Allardyce was doing fine and everybody should get off his back, until they actually sat through 90 minutes of a game and came round to the idea that yes, it was pretty soul destroying for those who had to sit through it every week.

Exactly this. The mistakes of previous years (last year in the main) are so horrific I cannot see them being fixed this quickly.

It will be hard, as we will probably be a bit crap next season, but it's hugely unrealistic to want it fixed right this second.

Everton fans aren't famed for their patience, I'm not usually either really, but we have to be here.

Who knows? Maybe we'll get a nice surprise.

I think Evertonians could accept the state of things if it weren't for one problem. We've been sold this dream that Moshiri was going to take us to the next level but after 2 years we've had long enough to see he's not the man we thought we were getting. We are a million miles from Champions league regulars never mind winning the league. Lots of talk but unable to back it up with real action. Still talking about a stadium 2 years in and very little invested in the squad after a bumper new TV deal.
Actions speak louder than words at the the end of the day.
