Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Wilshire? He'd have been a brilliant signing! What's a 20m all-in risk nowadays (if he was given 120k a week for example over three years)? He played plenty last season. He's proven miles better than any of our midfielders in his role. West Ham have played another blinder. Having a brilliant transfer window.

People said that last year?

They finished below us ffs.

They've signed

- Fabianski on a free, relegated with Swansea (albeit a decent keeper)
- Diop for their record fee. A 21-year-old defender who played in one of the worst teams in Ligue 1, lucky to stay up.
- Wilshere for 100k p/wk plus what is undoubtedly a huge signing on fee

Why do people always think West Ham are having amazing windows ffs.

Your grasp of our clubs current situation baffles me.
Why? We threw 50m at Bolasie, 50m at Klaassen, 20m at Sandro, 50m at Keane if you include their fee and wages over their contracts. What's another 20m to our reckless billionaire owner? ;)

He'd instantly have been our best midfielder if he'd have joined us, and you know it. If Bolasie is worthy of a 5-year deal for 80k a week (money spent 27m on transfer and 20m on wages - nearly 50m on this jokester), then Wilshire would definitely have been worthy of a 100k deal over three years (total gamble just over 15m).
Just no. He impressed me in be game only, of all those I've seen him play. Runs into a crowd of players , falls on his arse, looks to the ref for a foul, or simply gives the ball away.
Terrible, style of play.

I’d back us to finish ahead of them yet again even if we didn’t bring anyone else in. The amount of crying on here because other clubs have bought a few players and we haven’t is ridiculous.

£15,600,000 in basic wages over three years.

Plus a signing on fee.

They've basically paid £17/18m for him.

And like I said, I wouldn't have been against us getting him, but I'm not gutted we haven't got him. He isn't going to turn them into top 6 contenders. They have even more work to do on that front than we do (and we have a heck of a lot of work to do).
My guess is if he has a decent season they will cash in on him and try and make a very tidy profit.

Maybe he wants to leave ?
The only logic would be if Lookman is demanding to leave.

We don't want to sell him. We've rejected their opening bid and Brands has spoke publicly that he wants Lookman to stay.

If the player wants out, and is demanding it, then I imagine we'll have a price that needs to be met.

But I think we very much want to keep him. Hopefully he wants to stay.

Well, i cant fathom why someone would want to leave the premier league and go to play for a smaller side in Germany...

The only logic to us selling would be if we achieved an astronomical offer OR Werner / Upamecano as part of a Lookman + cash deal

Even then it wouldnt be a wise move to lose a potential England international...

Enough about Bolasie; what do you think about Wilshire?

I wouldnt say amazing window, but I think they have made some astute moves personally.

I dont fear them, they are a basket case of a club and it will all go to utter crap as it always does with them, but I still think they have made some decent moves.

Diop was very highly rated, never seen him play, but hes meant to be very good, the other 2 I wouldnt want, maybe Fabianski would have been a good back up and as said above JW is a good player, but hes a gamble.
