Summer 2018 Transfer Window

I like Davies, but if he’s in our first 11 next season then we’ve had a terrible transfer window.

What if Davies is in our first XI but we've signed Lozano, Mina and Tierney?

No, that wouldn't be a terrible window, would it...

We need a central midfielder. But we are really massively stocked in that position so we need to get at least two out of the door probably.

This team with a proper manager would still be favourites to finish 7th.

Pickford

Coleman Holgate Keane Baines

Gueye Davies Siggurdson

Walcott Tosun Lookman

So just stop wetting your pants and leave it to Brands. I’m glad we’re not chucking money round again, we didn’t need to, we probably need only 3 positions at a push and if Silva and Brands think we have the solutions in the squad already then I’d be ok going with that. We barely saw any of Vlasic Lookman last season, Tosun and Walcott have only had a few months. Coleman was back from injury. There’s a lot of potential in the squad to be maximised first before we need to worry about Brands notmplying fantasy football.

There’s always one club every summer that whip up some fans on here into a panic, I still remember the warnings that Stoke and Swansea were going to move ahead of us after 14/15. It never comes to pass, we’ll probably finish above West Ham again and we’ll be glad we didn’t panic bid for Wilshere or Yarmolenko.
That defence isn't great, especially if we're playing a higher line.

I think Leicester would arguably run us close dependent on how well Puel can get them playing.

It's still too early to make the call on other favoured teams like West Ham and Wolves though. West Ham have splashed some serious cash on dubious players but they look like they could be a good physical side if it clicks and I doubt Wolves have finished their business although I don't think they've done enough to be lauded as much as they are.

Leicester - Good team, crap manager
West Ham - Good manager, crap team
Wolves - Who knows

If things continue to drag on for a couple of weeks, knowing we have been in advanced talks about both Mina and Tierney but unable to complete something so far, if we move on a bunch more players and 2 weeks from now end up sealing deals for Tierney, Mina, and a top CM, would that be a good window?

I get what you're saying but i'm not sure it would. Baines is definitely not the player he was, and Holgate has literally had 3 or 4 good games at centre half in his career. Why exactly we would pick him at this point over Jagielka who was quite clearly our best defender last season i'm not sure, but like Baines he's not the player he was either. Davies is similar, he's had maybe 10 games where he's looked PL quality, and at times last year he looked way out of his depth in my opinion.

I agree with the principle, that the squad isn't as bad as some would suggest, but i'm not sure i'd fancy us to get higher than 8th with the current squad as it is.

Still plenty of time.

Unlike deadline days past, deadline day this year is still an OK time to sign players and get them involved early.

I'm repeating myself here in what I'm about to say. But I'm going to say it every day till it happens....

I've little to no interest in signing new players while Kevin Mirallas, Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Williams remain at this football club. I want them out the door NOW and then I'll get more enthused and focused on new signings.

I don't remember Shaqiri being lazy in Germany, but I haven't seem him hardly at all with Stoke. He's got a bit of an attitude about him, or he did back then, I guess he's probably matured! Klopp is quite big on team unity (who isn't!), I doubt he'd sign him if he didn't think he'd fit in with the group he has.

Let's just say he's not hot on his defensive duties, only comes to life when he's involved. He has an attitude alright, not the sort you want when building a 'team'.

7th?! Get in! We’re favourites for 7th!

What do we ‘only need 3 players’ for? Will these three players help us compete with Man City?
