2018 Jags? yes he is. I love Jags but hes fallen off massively over the last two years (which is to be expected). Seeing him get knocked over against some second division player on thursday was shocking.
Literally the worst argument I’ve seen for Jags being past it.

Not saying he’s not, necessarily, but getting knocked over in one challenge has **** all to do with anything

Excellent synopsis however I would add just one caveat and that is even during his purple patch he was being criticised for that tendency to drift out of the game.
You can get away with it to an extent on the wing but he's not a winger.
It will be very difficult for a player with a tendency to fade from the game to establish himself in the centre of a premier league team especially at the outset of a new managers tenure.
There are currently intimations that we are recruiting young players who would occupy Dowells position and given he has only 12 months on his contract I wonder whether he may move on.
I hope not , I would like to see him given a chance. But ,for me, he is currently no where near good enough to be a regular starter.
In fairness I don't think any of our young players, apart from possibly Holgate, are ready to become regular starters. But I think they should be part of the squad set up so Silva can develop them and decide whether they have a future here. Don't want these lads going on loan to the championship again.

Fair point about him drifting out of games. I did allude that in my post I thought.

Sell:
Rooney ✅
Funes Mori ✅

Browning (U23)
Galloway (U23)

If we can get replacements:

Couple more that I’d put in the sell category myself

A very interesting read, for those that enjoy this kind of thing, basically, the conclusion is this :

From the eye test, it looks like Timo Baumgartl is Everton’s best option. Very good at winning tackles, active, a good passer, and as Played Off The Parkwrites, very good at vertical passing. He along with the more popular Benjamin Pavard and the experienced Holger Badstuber helped create VfB Stuttgart’s impressive defensive record of just 36 goals conceded (only Bayern conceded less).

However, there’s a very good chance that his availability hinges on Pavard potentially leaving Stuttgart, and otherwise, he might be a little out of Everton’s price range. If it’s not him, Everton could look at Florian Lejeune, Niklas Stark, Marc-Oliver Kempf, Unai Nunez, or Robin Knoche.

If we buy two fifteen yearold defenders, it won’t matter if we play them for the next fifteen years. Get it done Marcel you fraud!
