Again;
Lemos
Jovanovic
Saenz
or the Zenit argentine.

But nope, big money rejects is the go.

Was really hoping Brands would be signing a few young and relatively under the radar players.

So far we have seemingly targeted 2 Barcelona players and 2 players that Silva has managed.

The first team is in urgent need of quality additions. If there were a load of gems that could be easily picked up everyone would be doing it.

All this talk of Rojo being terrible and Mina seemingly being the saviour?! What exactly has Mina proven to so many of us?! I barely noticed him in the World Cup... people can’t have watched him much for Barca as apparently he’s not played much?!
Lad scores against England in one game and everyone thinks he’ll transform our defence. Not saying he won’t but there’s very little to base an opinion on unless you happen to be a) Colombian or b) A scout for La Liga reserve matches.

Will be happy enough if we do sign him mind. Absolute unit.
I'm a big James fan and I watched every minute of Colombia's tournament. They were good at the back and Mina was a big threat from set pieces. That said Davinson Sanchez is excellent and I worry that Mina may have had his performance boosted because of it. But I do rate him and think he walks into the team with the trash players he is competing with if he comes here

That insider list is probably BS but I'm not sure if any of those are actually quality. Mbodji is intriguing. A physical presence no doubt and although he didn't play at the world cup being behind Salif Sane and Koulibaly isn't a huge issue. 28 and never played outside Belgium though...
I thought Reyes was an interesting one as a free agent. Was in line to start at the back for Mexico in Russia but hurt his hamstring and is out of contract from Porto.

Might be worth a punt if we are serious about bringing in 2 center backs. Can play in defensive midfield, as well.

That will come with time. As you say we need urgent work on the first team currently.

We would just boo these gems anyway when they are not playing like Pele after 5 games. Unless they don't get game time then they actually do turn into Pele...

I'm don't know much about him tbh but a quick search shows he has had two loans in Spain where he's had a lot of games so I'd take him

Mina has good attributes but realistically all he has done is play well in a couple of world cup games against average opposition.

If he tried some of his antics from the World Cup in the premier league he would get sent off ten times over. Seems useful from set pieces but unless he is willing to throw his head in at the first defenders foot then that would be useless anyway...

I don't think Rojo is as bad as all that, 30m is way too much and I am still dubious of the story. But I don't think we can be fussy this close to the end of the window I would take him and Mina.

That isn't totally true. He was one of the best young players in South America before the move to Barca. One year without a decent run of games didn't ruin him and the World Cup showed he is still at least decent. Also we need some snide in the team as many have said for years

What does being one of the best in South America mean though when equating it to success in Europe and especially somewhere like England? History is littered with South American prospects who never pushed on after a big move.

I don't think we need "snide" at all. We are Everton, leave the snide to the other lot. We need fighters and players with balls which is a slightly different thing. Not saying Mina doesn't have that hut the stuff he was doing in the World Cup would not slide here.

He is a prospect. It would worry me if we are putting all our eggs into the basket of 1, a player who evidently doesn't really want to come here and 2, a player who may or may not be up to the task.

Would have him over Rojo like...
