Different player = different outcomes.

Rondon is a physical presence who defenders dislike but are drawn to. That creates space and opportunity. Ask the Kopites how much they like Rondon.

If Siggurdson and Gueye are two nailed down spots in our midfield then we need an absolute worldy next to them like a Busquets/Alonso type who is going to sit deep positionally but also make the play. Putting a box to box midfielder next to Gueye just seems pointless.

In a 3 you want one holding, one creative, and one box to box. We have no creative, an awful holding mid in Schneiderlin, a box to box in Gueye who doesn’t like tompass forward, and Siggurdson playing a weird second striker role which means he gets to do jack all but be revered for it.

I think what you`re really trying to say, is that we need whole new midfield !!!!!!!

Yes we do, but when Silva and Brands came in we probably only had 3 positions in the team that had good players in them so it’s impossible to fix everything in one window. If they can get another one or two in we might be able to carry our poor midfield until January.

Heard he’s similar to Gueye, but Iv never seen him play
If you want to watch him look at a video on YouTube “incredible skills”. It’s hilarious! Every time he does a skill, shot or tackle they’ve put a shudder into the screen as if to say it’s world class!!

If you think of our midfield in Martinez season 1 we had Barry as the pivot, McCarthy as the energy and Barkley as the skillful ball carrier.

Now we have McCarthy (crocked), Gana, Schneiderlin, Besic, Baningme, Davies, Vlasic, Sigurdsson and Dowell

4-3-3 either has a pivot in front of the back 4 and two all rounders (think Barcelona) or a double screen and an attacking midfielder (like we had with Barry and McCarthy behind Barkley)

None of our squad can play as a pivot so we'd need to go for the double screen like we did for the last few months of Koeman's first season with Schneiderlin and Gana and Barkley in front.

Now both Schneiderlin and Gana have dropped form, and in Morgan's case gone to pasture.

More cruicially we've replaced the pace, drive and involvement of Barkley with the blandness of Sigurdsson.

I'd hoped we'd solve it for this year by bringing Lookman in as the #10 ahead of the shield made up of two high energy types but it looks like that has gone bad too.
