Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Palace are paying Meyer £170k per-week.

One-hundred-and-seventy-thousand pounds per-week.

£40m over 5 years is the same price as our supposed fee for Richarlison before any wages. Outrageous amount of money but no transfer fee means the net cost isn’t too bad. Especially given that he’ll probably carry a substantial sell on fee.

I realise its big money, but is it REALLY big money?

I mean is it different than us signing Rico for 40m and 80k a week?

They are offsetting the wage by paying no fee really, a few mill in sweeteners spread around the lad and agents and it’s probably works out close to the equivalent of us signing Ricy, thing is we are Everton and can absorb that. They are Palace and could get relegated. They are already paying 80% of all their income on wages. Look at us with a head space of 60 mill and conducting a fire sale, they are taking on another 10+ mill in wages.

As for the deal itself, we will see a time in our lifetime where transfer fees will be paid less and less maybe not at all or rarely and players will run down their contracts and command wages like this. Look what Sanchez earns, now this lid, players won’t be long cottoning on that they are being done being bought and sold.

Wolves fans very confident and smug

They are, but personally I don’t blame them.

They’re on the up and are showing a bit of ambition. Us looking down on them for that is only the same as fans of top 6 teams looking down on us, and mocking because we have the audacity to aspire for more than the 7th place trophy.

Well they are part owned by some very wealthy people, so whilst its a risk, its not dangerous, unless they go down of course, which to be honest you could say theres around 12 clubs in the league who could go down this season.
