You could be right. Looks like we’ll get another two, but they could be both CB’s which is fine by me.

Clearly there seems to be enough to spend relatively big on Mina but I think any further signing is going to be either a loan or free. I can’t see us spending £50-60m on top of what’s already spent.

Looks like Mina or Soumaoro plus one more. Diego Reyes is still without a club, on deadline day I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we got him on a free.
We need to walk away now from this Mina business.

Plenty of CBs out there...apparently Brands was brought in for just such a search.

Can't see Lascelles happening for three reasons...
1. Ashley would want a massive fee, £50m plus... and would have no time to re-invest it in replacements
2. The fans up there would go nuts if he sold arguably their best player right before the deadline
3. Benitez would likely quit in disgust leaving them minus their best player and with no manager

Even Mike Ashley isn't that daft... is he ?
We should try, just for these reasons alone

I'd prefer to sign players we know can hack it in this PL and who aren't mercenaries.

Imagine if teams had that strategy when deciding whether to buy Hazard, Aguero, Willian, van Persie, van Nistelrooj, Bergkamp, Henry etc etc... Not to mention bigger gambles such as Kante, Mahrez or Salah.

We can't just keep buying proven prem players as we can only attract over the hill rejects from the top clubs or the better players of the lower clubs, who aren't good enough to progress.

What makes you believe the latter two weren't? Not wanted at their own clubs and used a mug club to see out the next episode of their careers.

They could hack it in the Prem and not mercenaries in the sense that we use that term.

The dull truth is none of us can have any idea how players will be until they've had some time wearing our shirt. Arteta, Cahill, Yobo, Seamus and many more are examples of players done good despite having no Prem experience before joining us.

We cant unearth them. Brands is underling once more that we cant.

I'm done with "big name" players from "big clubs". I;d never heard of Mina until the World Cup, now people are desperate to get him signed up. He's just a new flavour of the month.
