Summer 2018 Transfer Window

I’d really like to see steady upgrades to our squad this summer rather than a disruptive overhaul.

For instance, replace the aging Baines with Arthur Masuaka. He’s pacey, skilful and direct ... and we don’t have to play Cuco at LB next season.

Anchor our defence with Jonny Evans whilst retaining Jags for injury cover and binning tubby Williams.

Get Dendocker in from Anderlecht to orchestrate our midfield. It would be great if we could upgrade Gana for Jean Michaël Seri or even Danny Drinkwater. Don’t get me wrong, Gana is great at harrying but once we have the ball, he has no creativity or goal threat.

As for attack, perhaps we can get Matej Vydra? He’s quick, has a composed finish, and wouldn’t break the bank.

Possibly the biggest challenge will be getting rid of those who don’t make the grade. We probably need to ship out a minimum of 10 players.

Absolutely - although some will get a little scared of the scale of the overhaul that's needed, due to last season's amount of changes - I think it's 100% time to get rid of some of the deadwood. So many names in the hat for shifting though - Snides, Besic, Mirallas, Williams, Cuco, Funes Mori, Rooney, Sandro and Klaassen.

So the window opens Thursday... we need to bring in a new coach by Wednesday or I am not looking forward to this upcoming season... When will we announce Brands???

Let's do none of that

Klaassen 23mil
Bolasie 28mil
Keane 25mil
Williams 11mil

etc etc...

Shows we should just go for a small amount of players but of top quality rather than spread it around...never learnt from spurs and bale.

This. If it means buying only 3 players for 200m so be it, but it must be high quality players and way above the level of our playing staff. Anything else is meaningless and we’ll be repeating what we did last summer.

3 players for £200 million? Think you are in for a disappointment

If we offload 8 or 9 players, recoup transfer fee plus wages shaved and prize money, we’ll probably be looking at around 100 to 200m spending this window.

Feels like we've been doing this the last few cycles, each time forgetting that money isn't the only issue. Sure, perhaps we can overpay (and maybe we should), but other clubs will be in for players we want. Ideally I think we'd settle on a fairly long list of very high class players, and start very early in the window (knowing we'll miss out on many). But I'm probably being a little farfetched there.
