Anyone see any need to replace Rooney? I feel like him leaving (if it happens) has literally no effect on our squad.

Siggy will surely be fit next season and can finally play in his actual natural position.

yeah probably, i mean if we sell him, calvert-lewin is our top scorer from last (god i've looked forward to saying that) season. I know what you mean though, i personally think we're fine with siggurdsson and klaassen battling it out for that role and then dependant on who we play up front, we could have a pacey player in the middle instead like walcott, vlasic or lookman.

Who has been woeful to the latter end of season and couldn't get a game in a very poor Forrest squad

Wouldn't bet your house on Dowell being a hit in my opinion

Part of that is burnout/general lack of form in a young player and part of it is poor management from Karanka as well who played him wide.

It's why the lad needed a loan in the first place though and, depending on who comes in, may still need another one.

Wouldn’t be expecting any new signing soon, new CEO, new DOF, new manager(hopefully), we’ve created a vacuum that will take a while to settle.

Any business done I see being done late in the window.

Another overlooked fact is that Vlasic is also historically an attacking mid so I'm glad you said that. I think we could use someone on the left wing more than we could use another number 10. Mirallas is back but that obviously will not do.

It’s not about replacing Rooney, it’s about replacing Barkley.
No one in this team is capable of doing that since he left.

He really wasn't mate, that's high levels of delusion

hmmm maybe your right

47 apps, 10 goals and 4 assists.

I think the majority of his goals were before karanka arrived in the early part of the season

still better than Bolasie stats mind!

Not at 10 or on the flanks, but we badly need a deep lying playmaker, Rooney didn’t have the legs for a midfield role, he didn’t have the legs to keep up with the excellent play he sometimes created from deep.

Our biggest problem is creativity in central midfield.

the way i see it, if we play tosun up front i'd actually prefer siggy on the left to whip in his crosses with pace in the middle on the right i.e. walcott and bolasie/lookman. But if we buy and play a pacey striker, or even play walcott there, siggy can go in the middle and then we have two wingers either side of him. Whichever set of three we play, they should be fluid though. I feel we definitely need to buy at least one attacker. Offloading bolasie and replacing with shaqiri for his supposed £12m buyout would make me happy tbh, he's another player like vlasic who seems like a winger but is probably better through the middle.

But i think finding a pacey striker who can score goals should be the main priority with regards to attacking reinforcements, gives us a good availability of options then. Then all the other focus should be made at the back.

100%. Letting Siggy roam a bit may also be an option there. I just feel we have yet to see him at his best since Rooney was clearly being guaranteed the starts he received

We need a towering centre back that can knock them in and I would be made up with Fabra or someone similar coming in at left back.
