Summer 2018 Transfer Window

Now that Brands is in and assuming we get someone who plays attacking fooball (Silva/Fonseca), we should be building around the young talent we have and adding to it.

Lookman and Holgate in particular have proven they’ve got the ability to become top class players, Vlasic has shown glimpses, and DCL/Davies could become great players with the right coaching in my opinion.

Big Sam said plenty of times that this summer would be about getting rid of numbers and replacing them with quality and it was probably the only thing he got right in his time here.

I’d be getting rid of:
  • Robles (free)
  • Williams (£5m)
  • Martina (£2m)
  • Niasse (£15-20m - been great this year but we should sell while his stock is high and look to progress)
  • Schneiderlin (£25m - unless our new manager/DOF think they can get him playing well again I think it’s time for him to go)
  • Klaassen (£15m - ideally I’d like to see him get a chance to show what he’s capable of. If clubs like Napoli are interested there has to be a player there somewhere but if not we should be able to get a half decent fee)
  • Bolasie (£20m - has his moments but probably not good enough. Teams would easily throw £20m at us for him)
That’s up to around £80m in player sales and a huge amount in wages without needing to really need to replace any of them.

I’d be looking to bring in players with high potential:
  • Lozano - £30m and he’s likely to be a star
  • Sessegnon - £50m - probably no chance but putting a huge offer in would show real ambition
  • Ruben Neves - £40m - been unbelievable for Wolves and will 100% become a top player. Scores goals from midfield which is something we desperately need
We’d be left with a great mixture of some of the best young players around and the experience of players like Rooney.

Pickford

Coleman - Keane - Holgate/Jags - Baines/Sessegnon

Gueye - Ruben Neves

Walcott - Gylfi/Rooney - Lookman/Lozano

Tosun/DCL

If we had that side and finished 6th/7th next season getting into Europe again, we’d be in great shape moving forward as a club.
15-20m for Niasse? JESUS CHRIST.

A reminder that the window is now OPEN :

2018 summer transfer window, which runs from May 17 to the earlier date of August 9 - two days before the new season starts.

The transfer of players to the Premier League from other countries, however, can only take place once FIFA's window opens on June, 8.

Celtic defender Kieran Tierney admits he is flattered by extensive interest in him but has reiterated that he could remain at the Parkhead club for life.

The 20-year-old signed a five year extension to his contract earlier this season but it has not dampened the recurrent speculation about his long-term ambitions in the game.

Spanish side Atletico Madrid will scout the Scotland internationalist on Saturday afternoon in the William Hill Scottish Cup final and they are latest in a long line of clubs who have kept tabs on the progress of the player.

"I've never thought about elsewhere yet, in my life," he said. "It's just been Celtic since the age of seven."

Tierney captained Scotland in a friendly this season and has been a mainstay at the club since breaking into the first-team in 2015 under former Celtic manager Ronny Deila.

He was an integral part of the Invincibles last season under Brendan Rodgers and so far and has won both the PFA Scotland and Scottish Football Writers’ award for an unprecedented three consecutive seasons.

"I've never even been on trial with another team," said Tierney. "I was at my local boys' club then moved to Celtic at seven.

"Can I see myself being here all my career? Yes, I can. But, you never know in football.

"I've never thought about being away from Celtic. Maybe one day it will happen."

And the player regards the interest as flattering rather than unsettling.

"It's a kind of confidence-booster in a way to know that you've put the hard work in and massive teams all over Europe are noticing it," he said. “It's flattering for teams like that to be interested."

Tierney's rival for the left-back berth for Scotland is Liverpool’s Andy Robertson, who is due to cap an excellent debut season at Anfield with a Champions League final appearance against Real Madrid on 26 May.

"Celtic getting to a Champions League final is obviously unlikely because of the money involved," said Tierney.

"But I'm not jealous of Andy Robertson at all. What he's done is brilliant for him. He deserves to be there. He's a great player, a player for me to look up to in the national team."

This kid is special, will be worth a try regardless of the outcome

Can't wait for Brands to start splashing some filthy cash on Mino's players. Perhaps most notably/realistically, Lozano and Kluivert.
Yeah, just looked at who Mino has in his stable. It’s not really what I expected. The two you mentioned were the only ones that make a lot of sense. Idk if we’d go for both but I’d be happy with either.

Yeah, I think hes going to be a special combination of defensive tenacity and talent going forward. I also do think that its extremely unlikely he goes anywhere this year, as hes still very young, and even if some big team lures him away, will want to at least give another full year to his dream team, Celtic.

Couple things:

- You might as well add 10M to the sales ledger for Rooney.
- Who would spend 25M on Schneiderlin or especially 20M on Bolasie?
- There is absolutely no chance two newly promoted clubs (assuming Fulham come up) will sell us their best players.

20M for Bolasie is insane

Lucky to get 10M
