The proven talent they have there is ridiculous...

Although we have a decent amount of young players I think only Holgate and Lookman could be considered at approaching this level of quality.

Would be nice to have 2 or 3 more super talents added.

It's a nice model to follow at all the RB clubs. Salzburg have a butt load of kids I'd sign.

It’s great this but proper weird, my enthusiasm for all things Everton is back in the space of 1 day, and I’m more looking forward to outs than ins for the first time ever.

For starters, Joel, Mangala, Garbutt, Besic, Galloway, Browning and Mirallas could leave and you wouldn’t even notice. That’s 7 lighter than last year.

Then you can punt the old/bad attitude brigade, Rooney, Jagielka, Williams and Schneiderlin.

And finally the simply not good enough lot, Martina, Sandro, Bolasie, and arguably Klaassen and Niasse.

Now I’m not saying it’s realistic to get rid of 16 players in one window, but it’s actually very possible if you replace them with 5/6 decent players.
Agree with almost all of it but you can't be getting rid of Niasse tbh

I feel like I am going to get this wrong but a lot of those players are sold at a loss in your thoughts. We STILL have to pay the club we got them from, which means most would be a wash in terms of outlay and what we got.

Which means you think the club is going to spend $150m?

I think that we’d net spend the difference personally. Especially with the wages off the bill.

Couple things:

- You might as well add 10M to the sales ledger for Rooney.
- Who would spend 25M on Schneiderlin or especially 20M on Bolasie?
- There is absolutely no chance two newly promoted clubs (assuming Fulham come up) will sell us their best players.

- I’m hoping Rooney stays as I think he’d play better in a side that played football, but you’re right it looks like he’ll leave
- In today’s money Schneiderlin is easily worth what we spent and maybe even more in my opinion. Bolasie is a proven PL standard player and at £20m is a safe bet for a number of teams. If Fulham came up for example I’m sure they’d be interested.
- Maybe they won’t but do newly promoted clubs really have more attraction than joining us on huge wages?

I like you D, but youve had a shocker here.

I admire your spunk tho.

lol

15-20m for Niasse? JESUS CHRIST.

He’s proven to be good enough as a PL striker. There’s strikers in the Championship that have gone for £15m+, so I think that’s easily realistic.

Both Leipzig and RB Salzburg are big into Moneyball / Analytics / Stats-based recruitment and they really seem to get it right. First time I ever heard of Naby Keïta was a guy blogging about his stats at Salzburg and how, small league or not, he was the answer to every Midfield problem for just about everyone. I have half a memory that the author was a Kopite, but that could be wrong - either way it struck me as good analysis then, and seems to have held up.

Our neighbours and their FSG masters love this stuff too and, as well as the spectacular successes that they have always seemed to have, they seem to have gotten really good at avoiding disasters. Even players of theirs that I don't rate seem to do well enough for them.
Anyway, I've had this secret terror since January that we'd sell Lookman to Leipzig or someone for peanuts and in a years time he'd be bought by the RS - I'm hoping Brands and our new manager will have enough sense to keep him.

you would like to think that anyone with half a brain can see lookman desperately needs to be kept

if he came through at RB and had the second half of the season he had just had everyone would be after him for 40mil

You want to look at Leipzigs team/squad, its filled with wonder-kids that are already getting brilliant game time. 10+ of that squad will go on to be top level super-stars.
