I would actually like a LB that can defend.Only gone off one of them silly youtube vids for Fabra but he reminds me of patrick van aanholt very quick attack minded LB, which is what we need, Baines legs have gone.
He did well because he wasn't coco martina, he's still gash in attack and even worse defending now, Baines is no longer the player he was.I disagree, when he came back from injury he did pretty well. The weakest link was always the centre halves, and especially defending from set pieces. Williams just stood there more often than not.

I could pick holes in that all day but one for startersNow that Brands is in and assuming we get someone who plays attacking fooball (Silva/Fonseca), we should be building around the young talent we have and adding to it.
Lookman and Holgate in particular have proven they’ve got the ability to become top class players, Vlasic has shown glimpses, and DCL/Davies could become great players with the right coaching in my opinion.
Big Sam said plenty of times that this summer would be about getting rid of numbers and replacing them with quality and it was probably the only thing he got right in his time here.
I’d be getting rid of:
That’s up to around £80m in player sales and a huge amount in wages without needing to really need to replace any of them.
- Robles (free)
- Williams (£5m)
- Martina (£2m)
- Niasse (£15-20m - been great this year but we should sell while his stock is high and look to progress)
- Schneiderlin (£25m - unless our new manager/DOF think they can get him playing well again I think it’s time for him to go)
- Klaassen (£15m - ideally I’d like to see him get a chance to show what he’s capable of. If clubs like Napoli are interested there has to be a player there somewhere but if not we should be able to get a half decent fee)
- Bolasie (£20m - has his moments but probably not good enough. Teams would easily throw £20m at us for him)
I’d be looking to bring in players with high potential:
We’d be left with a great mixture of some of the best young players around and the experience of players like Rooney.
- Lozano - £30m and he’s likely to be a star
- Sessegnon - £50m - probably no chance but putting a huge offer in would show real ambition
- Ruben Neves - £40m - been unbelievable for Wolves and will 100% become a top player. Scores goals from midfield which is something we desperately need
Pickford
Coleman - Keane - Holgate/Jags - Baines/Sessegnon
Gueye - Ruben Neves
Walcott - Gylfi/Rooney - Lookman/Lozano
Tosun/DCL
If we had that side and finished 6th/7th next season getting into Europe again, we’d be in great shape moving forward as a club.
We're not a top team, as much as you may want us to be. Baines is on our level for where we currently are. Burnley finished above us ffs"Pretty well" isn't good enough. These days full-backs are right up there as the most important members of the team and Baines offers absolutely nothing these days.

Just because we aren't Top 6 doesn't mean there aren't any left-backs in the entire world better than Baines we can get.
It will be difficult to find one, most of them are playing in big European sides.
Saints didn’t get relegated pal.Pretty confused why you rate Baines so highly. Bertrand for example is better and is now in the Championship.

Arsenal and Spurs target Abdoulaye Doucoure's stunning put down in response to Everton rumour
He's a player who has attracted admiring glances from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham, but it seems that Abdoulaye Doucoure won't leave Watford for anyone.
The midfielder was quizzed by French publication L'Equipe about the links with a move to the Toffees; a move which provoked a no-nonsense response from the Frenchman.
He said: "Everton? No, that's not a step up for me.
"If I left Watford to join a club who's not better, that would be disrespectful."
The 25-year has been a revelation for the Hornets this term due to his combative style and surprising grace on the ball for someone of such a frame.
However, Doucoure's displays have led to has led a number of clubs taking a look at the 25-year-old - including Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal.
One man who would love the Gunners to sign the midfielder is Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas, who has urged his former club to make a move.
Asked who he'd like the North London club to sign, he said: "It has to be Abdoulaye Doucoure by a distance.
"Even watching them lose to Spurs, his energy and movement stood out.
"I'm not a big holding midfield fan but he could easily do that and more for Arsenal with the way he covers the ground. Everton will surely be looking to snap him up as well."
OUCH AHAHHAHA
Saints didn’t get relegated pal.
