He played there multiple times this season and was average at best.

He played there three times that I can recall.

Was good against Burnley. Was poor against West Brom. Was excellent against Brighton - got injured.

Gylfi is more than good enough, playing in his ‘correct’ role or not - but in the first few months of the season he clearly wasn’t fit and was being shoehorned into the side.

Once his sharpness came back and math fitness levels were there, he was very consistent. No surprise Rooney’s form dropped off a cliff when he got injured.

.

Obviously didn’t help having Cuco behind him, but you would have thought a player who was supposedly ‘quality’ wouldn’t have been that woeful mostly week in, week out.

Also, when he was moved into his ‘correct’ position he still didn’t do that much.

Everton played the worst football in the league last season. Start of the season we had key players out injured and Sig had next to no pre-season. When Allardyce came in we were dreadful - that was down to the way he had us set up. Sig will be much better playing in a system where players actually pass and move.

I've a feeling have Coco (the clown) behind him traumatised him for the rest of the season, a decent manager will get him playing to his potential.

We did buy Sigurdsson from Swansea you know (who had been in a relegation battle the season we bought him for £45m, and where he had played out on the left for them) not Barca.

I don’t get your point. I was giving a couple of reasons why he didn’t shine last season. I’m well aware that Swansea aren’t Barca

You said one of the reasons was because we were absolutely crap last season, and it had also been pointed out by others that he hadn’t been played in his ‘correct’ position for us.

The point I’m making is, if the above was correct, then why was Sigurdsson supposedly boss (and he was one of the main reasons Swansea stayed up) in a really gash team, playing terrible footy, fighting relegation, while also playing out on the left for them.

They might have been relegation fodder but Swansea always played better footie than us.

According to WhoScored, he played in the middle 9 times. And had the worst "rating" however they quantify that.
