Maybe, but he might feel he has a point to prove after the humiliation of last season. Also, it doesn’t make sense for him to say this if the team couldn’t offload him without him agreeing to another team’s contract demands anyways. It’s PR guff for sure, but it probably isn’t meant that way.
I`ve nothing against him, but unfortunately he`s one of Koeman and Walsh`s costly mistakes, so can`t see a future for him here or anywhere else in the Premier League, due to his lack of pace.

Probably better suited to somewhere like the Italian league, where the pace isn`t as frenetic.

The fact that Koeman won`t pick him for his own Dutch squad says it all.

4 years left and 100k per week conservative estimation. 22m. I would gladly rot in the reserve if someone pay me that.

I just hope he change his mindset and realise he needs to overhaul his entire game and reinvent himself next season.

I reckon he's gonna surprise us next season in a 4-3-3. Play him exactly where he played for Ajax.

No much better to write him off and call him useless, when - in my opinion - he has not had a chance to show what he can do in his proper position and with a functioning team/plan.

Sometimes Everton fans are too harsh and too quick to dismiss players.

Not disagreeing, but it seems the consensus that Klaassen only wants to be here for the $. For all his flaws, Klaassen has never been the one to pout despite being utterly embarrassed and he probably doesn’t want to lose his best chance at holding a place in one of the top leagues. It’s pretty hard to regain that credibility after you are labeled a “flop.” Everton were an absolute mess last season, so unless the boss man unloads him this summer, I’m willing to give him a shot.

And? Does this mean if we are to buy from the Prem, we can only buy from the 7 teams that finished above us? Brands scouting pool has just got a hell of a lot smaller.

I don't rate the lad at all mate. Well considering our best player is Walcott, I would say aiming to get good players from teams that are better than us would be a start. As opposed to dross like Williams, Bolasie and Keane.

I think there are good players at teams below us, but Harry Maguire is not one of them

In other words, counter attacking players capable of quick transition. Such players require pace, dribble and willingness to rush down the other end in packs complimenting each other with movement and a strong believe that every breakaway will result in goal scoring chances.

We only have 3 players capable of doing that. Lookman, Walcott and Coleman.

It’s crucial we sign more transition type players and maddison is one of best we’re link with at the moment.

...yep. The current transition is via a quarterback approach with the likes of Rooney and Schneiderlin picking the ball up from deep and hitting forward players with long passes. The trouble with that is it’s easy to defend. Runners, particularly in central areas draw defenders out and create space in behind. If you think about it we rarely get free kicks in and around the opposition box because of the way we play.

It’s not only in attack, though. The 85 team is a good blueprint as 3 of the back four (Stephens, van den Hauwe and Ratcliffe) had Rolls Royce engines to go with talent. Their mobility, pace and powers of recovery made them a formidable unit.

Fair enough if you don’t rate him. But you said ...
“Harry Maguire played in a team that finished below us.”
Like that justifies your opinion. Just because we f$€%# our recruitment up with the players you mentioned, is no justification either. We got it wrong, the reason is not because they played for teams beneath us. We got it wrong. Plain and simple. If it were as simple as that, every player that plays for teams above us would be a success too. Doesn’t work like that. There plenty of dross at RS, UTD, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs that I wouldn’t want us touching.
