We aren't getting Loftus-Cheek, he is well thought of by many and had a decent game last night for England. Doubt he will leave Chelsea as they look like they will be reigning in the spending, or alternatively they need to spend to buy but even then he will go to a team with CL.I wouldn't mind us going for Shaquiri for a reported £12M, relatively cheap and decent age at 26. I think Brands will be looking abroad (only going by what I have read here) but I think there are players attainable from UK, Ake, Wanyama, maybe Cresswell, Sinclair at Celtic etc.

If Sinclair and Cresswell are our level of ambition then we may as well have kept Walsh and Allardyce.

Absolutely this. There's a thread for other teams transfers.
Very true. And threads dedicated to all things Liverpool for those who are interested.
Just for you frandelfrand

I pray we're looking further afield for players than these shores. Just read Spurs have been quoted 70m for Zaha and 40m for Grealish. No doubting Zaha is a fine player but 70m? I get that to Palace he is worth that and more because without him they are relegation fodder but still and £40m for a player who's done ok in the Championship but never looked committed or up to it in the prem. It's mental! Hopefully the rumours of the likes of Carvahlo and Lozano being targets is a sign we're being sensible for a change.

Its heartbreaking seeing us linked to forwards that arent Icardi and Guedes or alike whilst over the park continue to land mega players

Wishlist update:
Lascelles
LB - still undecided who i really really want its a shame the Rose links have died
Big Willy C
Lonzano or a
Icardi or Guedes

Not too greedy is it:pint2:
Liverpool have just got to a CL final, finished top 4 and have one of the biggest managers in the game at the helm, we're not gonna be going for that calibre of player. Liverpool couldn't have until recently

We overreached 2 summers ago (Witsel, Mata, Koulibaly) and got embarrassed, so the utter fannies played it safe last summer and mostly went for players with clubs and agents we knew could work with, hence all the overpriced crap players from this league (or the manager's former club)

Hopefully having a DOF with good contacts and a slimeball of an agent will help us broaden our horizons a bit, but we still won't be competing with them lot for players

We are not going to fix our problems in one window it will take several and these players are better than what we currently have and were only suggestions, I don't know how people on here get their info but some seem to know it all. Its weird talking about our level of ambition with some of the absolute rubbish we currently have - what ambition do they show ? We are a higher mid-table team at the moment, we cannot get elite players but we can still progress using so called "lesser" players then build from there.

We need some players to rinse them because we have a shedload of players rinsing us.

Over 80% of our turnover is paying wages, we need to sell and release players to free up cash. Before we get that sorted the likes of West Ham, Leicester are taking our potential targets.

I hope we are shopping at a better level than West Ham & Leicester.

They have a habit like ourselves of buying what look like exciting players and they don’t fit, long may it continue for them.

I’m being patient, as suspect it’ll take time to identify the right players to fit Marco’s system.

Sinclair from Celtic, come on mate you have to be aiming higher than that. Bolasie would look like Maradona in the Scottish league.

Them 4 players would cost a 100mil and wouldn’t improve us one bit. I’d be devastated if Brands targets players like that.

We need to try and remain optimistic, but the job Brands and Silva have is huge.

Let's be realistic here, we are in a right old mess. Far too many average players on silly wages who might prefer to sit there and take the money. A peril of the modern game I suppose.

We reached for the stars and just about got above the clouds last summer.

I am sure there are deals being done to ship some out, so I would not put any weight on anybody saying nobody in until a few go out.

They are not going to miss out on a target if he wants to come, just because we are waiting for other deals to complete the other way.

I believe that the problems of finance this summer result from overpayment on transfer fees and over-large salaries which were sanctioned, rashly, by the board, or by Moshiri himself, in a bid to break into the top four or five clubs in the league table in a single season. (The window Moshiri spoke of.)

Walsh and Keoman made bad choices; the board, or Moshiri, made bad financial decisions. I doubt there is any way for us but slow and steady improvement, and keeping costs in check. (Got to pay for a ground, too.)

West Ham done a good bit of business getting Fredericks on a free and now linked with the likes of Pastore and Felipe Anderson while we are busy trying to shift deadwood to free up some cash to get players in.

Fredericks lol
Pastore is another McCarthy waiting to happen
Felipe hasnt been good since linked to UTD.

I can't see us signing anyone for another two weeks.

Rooney and perhaps one or two others (Joel) out of the door in the next week or so.

Carvalho - if he's a target and if he comes - won't be done until after Portugal's World Cup campaign.

Rooney / Robles / Grant + 3 more outs by end of next week i think.

Imagine we will have 1 signed up also...

not gonna lie, if I was a Liverpool fan I'd be giving it beans as well with some of the signings they have made

yeah their defence may not be the best but lets face it with the attack and midfield that they have they won't need to defend

there is a reason why most Liverpool games they have 40 shots and their opponents have about 2

Wrong thread

Raid Chelsea - Kurt Zouma & Loftus Cheek.. Brands you silver fox, make it happen.

On a side note, My mate coached Dartford, who played Chelsea in the FA Youth Final, Loftus was playing, and he said he was so much bigger and better, they actually had to find out if he was in the same age category.

Zouma hasnt progressed after his injury. Loftus Cheek would be damn expensive now.

Shaqiri - totally Mirallas
Ake - Good player but we need a leader or superstar
Wanyama - Why would we sign him? Cant pass.
Cresswell - My word no.
Sinclair - What the actual...
