Personally think Rooney wants to stay as he could easily have announced the move "in principle" while going through finer details later. Seems clear Marco doesn't want him, thankfully, so not sure how this plays out but safe to say Rooney wont lose money.

I think what is happening at the moment is Marcel & Marco are finding it harder than expected to offload some of the absolute mercenaries we have on the books.

We have already had to back track a little re:Schneiderlin, and not one of our players is actually really that wanted by anyone.
WE are having to do all the leg work i am guessing when it comes to finsing bidders for the likes of Williams, Mirallas, Klaassen, Bolasie, Sandro etc etc.
Teams are clever also, they know these players are not wanted, they wont just come in wit ha "hey heres 10 million, we will pay his full wages". They will wait, wait until we are desperate, wait until we will end up accepting loan deals were we pay 50% of the salary.

I reckon Marcel would of thought he would of had 3 or 4 shifted by now, and is now possibly looking at he reality of a few of them having to stay (Schneiderfraud, Bolasie)

I've never been his biggest fan but Sigurdsson was probably our best player for a few months before he got injured, and that was with him playing wide running back to play left back half the time.

Ffs only been 2 weeks. How many clubs in the league have even bought a first team player so far?

Arsenal

Manchester United

Huddersfield just off the top of my dome
Just had a quick look and bar Watford, the transfer dealings aren't anything to write home about mate.

Kopites panic buying fabhino
United sign a 19 year old defender
Most of the rest are free transfers

Literally only Watford who have spent money and one of the two was a player they had on loan.

So no real transfers so far.

the article on the bbc is slightly misleading

it just says they need to sell 60 mil euro's worth of players to balance the books for this year

if they were to sell then i think the most likely players to leave are the one's they sent out on loan last year like guedes, jese and krychowiak

guedes alone would easily get them around 30-40 mil euro's if not more
They have a couple of decent left backs
One of those is Kurwaza (so) who is decent
