I’m really not too worried. I think we have a lot of decent players in the squad and just need the right management to get the best out of them. I’m happy for brands and silva to assess them and see what they can get out of them first.

However, we definitely do need a CB and a LB (more for long term as baines May do well in Silvas style). But otherwise, Pickford, Coleman, Holgate, baines, Gueye, schneiderlin, gylfi, davies, tosun, Walcott, lookman. Have all shown that they have it in them and have the ability to play good football. I trust in brands and silva to get them performing again.

O don’t forgive schneiderlin but he showed in his first season that he has the ability.

It's strange that I feel very relaxed about our approach. What's important is we do the right business not quick business.

Our best league position in the PL came when we signed Marcus Bent (Leicester cast off) and an unknown Tim Cahill. We let go 3 first team players and re-jigged.

Last season we were already at buying Michael Keane. It looked great, but it goes to show perceptions mean very little.

West Ham I could see replicating us this season. Whacking a load of money around on big names, paying towards the top end of the market for them, fancy themselves to radically improve and have it fall on their faces.

As for us, and this might sound nuts, if we brought nobody in, moved some dead wood on and took stock then I wouldn't be wildly disappointed.
The only position where I feel we must buy new blood is CB. If Silva can get our other players playing to their potential, we have a good squad. A backup for Tosun would be good also, but I think Niasse can do the job.

This. But also let’s not buy on the evidence of WC performances.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a fair few loaned out. I think I read somewhere that it is better for us to loan the likes of Williams out and let him go on a free then say sell for 2m now as it would impact how much we could spend with FFP.

exactly mate, if you sell for less than you paid it shows as a loss, and affects how much you can spend, so if money wasn't a problem, but the ability to spend it is the issue, your better to loan out for example klassen for the rest of his contract than sell for a 15mil loss

people see it as, we get 13mil back in which means we have 13mil to spend.....nope

Did not know that.

Surely it works on an accumulative basis though? So making untold millions through selling our best players to our rivals, such as Stones, Lukaku and Barkley, makes up for making a loss on the likes of Klaassen, who was bought with money from player sales anyway?

Imagine Brands and Silva are actually taking their time to assess the squad and youth players properly rather than just playing monopoly like Koeman and Walsh did.
I would say that Brands and Silva knew exactly who they wanted to stay or leave the day they were appointed. I expect that we have bids/enquiries in for players at present and are talking to clubs and agents about moving players out as well.
