SILVA TO GIVE YOUTH A CHANCE

Everton manager Marco Silva will give Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman and number of other youngsters the chance to be part of his first team next season.

Silva's stance will disappoint a number of Premier League clubs including Bournemouth, who believed they could entice England U21 Calvert-Lewin.

Everton need to reduce the size of the squad but that is also unlikely to affect Kieran Dowell - another England U21 international who impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last term.

The same can be said for 21-year-old Jonjoe Kenny.

Ah of course he will. Dominic I cant score in a brothel Lewin. The lad needs a loan move in to a lower prem club who can give him game time week in week out and continue his development as with Kenny and Dowell. Lookman is good enough to rotate with an established LM like Lozano as he hasn't shown enough to be a guaranteed starter.

Once again stinks of not enough money in the coffers.

He was unbelievable against us for Kiev. But that was ages ago. And Basle even longer ago.

I dunno. Probably nothing in this really.

Is this him?

..I was hoping we’d already taken the step back.

Chatting with somebody centrally involved in the game last night, he wondered if Silva might not achieve as much as Allardyce did with this group of players. He thought he’d need to bring in his own players to fit his own team model.
I believe people within the English game give Sam Allardyce far too much credit and respect Eggs.

I don't want to get back into the old Allardyce as a coach arguments, but I think it's fair to say that the squad that was available to Allardyce would be completely different to watch under Silva, just from playing a different system with more attacking intent.

However there are holes in the starting XI that need addressing; we need more pace at the back and in midfield, we need more left footers, and we also need more craft in midfield. Without them, the best we can hope for is 7th and a few points closer to the top 6.

I would actually be happy with this. If we can trim the squad and give some of our youth a try it would be better in the long term than re-jigging our whole squad again. Even if we finished mid-table, if everyone was arsed and at least trying it would be better to watch than last year. If the youth develop, we could very well challenge for a European spot and then perhaps be in a more informed position next year as to where we need to acquire.

I watched the game in my own living room on my own but still punched tge air and shouted get in lad as if he was already one of ours.

De Ligt and Gelson Martins linked. Think Spurs were pushing hard for De Ligt if Alderweireld was off. Cant see it personally, papers will be linking us with a lot of Raiola's players.

De Ligt and Lozano would be mind blowing.

This is why all we need this season is to sign 3/4 quality players and trim the squad down significantly

Who's the journo do ya know him?

Sam Wallace. Been wrong on us in the past - story saying he’d heard Baines had told the board to let him leave. He never and he signed a new deal.

but since, can’t reallt remember him getting right but then again, haven’t really looked for his stuff plus I’m blocked by him on twitter over the Baines one

We still need some players mate with pace in defence and midfield to enable Marco to play the system he wants. 3/4 quality players and develop the youth and we could be a completely different prospect in 12 months.
