It's not business in football. There is a clear correlation between money spent and success. A sell to buy approach does not bring success.

But, yeah, let's carry on pretending all is good because we have a DoF nobody had heard of 6 months ago.

Well that depends if its sell to buy to raise transfer funds, or its sell to buy because too many of the current squad are not wanted/not good enough, or both.

..my concern with Loftus-Cheek is whether he’s dynamic enough to regularly pick a game up by the scruff of the neck and make things happen. He’s talented but there’s lots of talent out there. I don’t know if he’s the type to positively influence games on a week by week basis.

We need winners. Players who play like the game really matters.
Great post haven’t seen enough of him to give an informed view. What I have seen of him I felt he looked like the type who everything always came easy too. The physicality & ability don’t appear to be in doubt has he got the desire & tenacity to fulfill the potential. Difficult to make a judgment without watching him live every week for a period

We're all speculating.

I thought it was to clear the squad originally, but I can see us not spending much this summer.

This, coupled with the stagnant stadium developments, doesn't do much for confidence going forward.

Sell to buy isnt a thing. What you’re describing is player trading which every single club in the world does. Are we selling Pickford Walcott Tosun Gueye or Coleman? Doesn’t look like it, which means we are selling players we don’t need, like every other club tries to do. What do people want? Keep all the bad players and buy even more players? People just love the ‘sell to buy’ stick to needlessly bash Everton with.

Is there a correlation between having a load of aging or plain bad players that the manager doesn't want and having success? I highly doubt it.

Also, who outside of football journalism/coaching/management has heard of any DoF's? I'd know only of Monchi and that's because he was mentioned a lot on here.

Yeah and becoz nobody nose wot dey are doing m8, Silva will probz be trying to get a side together the night before the Wolves game coz he doesn’t buy enough good footballers.

Innit.

Clearly it is sell to buy. Back to where we were.

Mate the squad is pyar gash, if we made £50m in sales, cleared the tosh which is bleeding us dry and bought one decent winger, midfielder or centre back I’d be quite happy

We ballsed it up massively over the past 2 seasons so a more sensible approach to recruitment would be welcomed IMO

With all due respect we had heard of him 6 months ago
Moshiri tried to get him in when he bought in to the club in 2016 while we all wanted Monchi.
Chelsea also tried to get him back then as well
