If Chelsea come in for one our targets and we don't get them then fair enough but not Stoke.
If the board can't attract either due to financial or other pressures a player who would chose Stoke over us then there's no excuse for that. If we get someone better then brilliant but if we don't it's on them.

btw - I would prefer Shaqiri over Mertens but if both are available I would want both and get rid of McGeady.
The TV money has made everyone in the league stinking rich and we have a lot of older players reaching the end of their contracts. Next summer a lot of players might just not be available for a realistic price after the premier league has hoovered them all up.
