Summer transfer speculative hopes and dreams

So if we offer the reported 12m and mertens opts to go elsewhere the clubs screwed up? Not buying it. So much more to transfers than that, also one daily mail article doesn't mean we' re actively trying to sign said player
Yes that's exactly what I'm saying. That is a case of them misreading the situation.

Their job is to secure the best transfers possible. Shaqiri was possible and if they don't get someone better then they've failed. That's how these things work, everyone has excuses when they fail to achieve what's possible, managers have excuses, players have excuses. Ultimately if they fail enough they pay with their jobs and boards should be no different.

We as fans aren't demanding the league every year but we don't bloody well want to be beat by Stoke in the transfer market.

Inter wanting to replace Shaqiri is the worry, but hopefully this is true...

@BeNeFoot: Het Laatste Nieuws report Everton have had talks with the agent of Dries Mertens and that the player seems open to a move to Merseyside.
I'd be ecstatic. If it came off, then Lukaku & Mertens have come straight from my old years and years old FM saves and into my real life at EFC. Buzzing.

Maybe the club doesn't rate shaqiri highly hence not pursuing him with a bid. Fact of the matter is this whole shaqiri to everton situation is based off one daily mail article with zero quotes. Can't get beat to a player you're not trying to sign

Just because they've agreed a fee doesn't mean Shaquiri is necessarily going there

Doubtful we were even in for him anyway, who really cares that much to fume about it lel

Well that's their decision and we'll see who they sign better and next season we'll be able to judge close up whether they where right or not.

Last year we didn't sign Tadic and look how that went. We signed no one and slipped to mid-table and practically ruined Barkley playing him out wide on the left.

Not signing anyone and not signing a specfic player (tadic, shaqiri, etc) are different issues entirely. Yeah we do need a creative player whether it be an "out and out no 10" or a player like Peinaar so it'll be a bit of a disappointment if we don't. Can't see barkley being played out there again even if we stay as is. Peinaar, Kev, and Cleverly would be out there before him

You sign him on FM ?

They aren't different issues. They're the same issue. If we don't sign anyone then it makes not signing a specific player who would have improved us for the right amount inexcusable if we had the chance.

What you might see is Barkley continuing to play the No 10 role when it's becoming increasingly obvious he isn't suited to that position. He just doesn't see the picture in his head quick enough and as a result all our play gets pushed out wide, Rom gets starved and too much responsibility falls on our fullbacks.

Hopefully I'm wrong about Ross if we do end up playing him as a No 10 because I think he's a brilliant player and want him to succeed but the stats don't lie.

If we don't and Mertens plays No 10 then we still need another winger unless you want to go into the season with McGeady as backup or Osman, Pienaar or Cleverly.

Expect to see a signing or two in the next two weeks. Martinez wants the full squad for that pre season tournament.

Issue is we are quickly running out of viable options. Firmino, Shaqiri, Mertens even Wijnaldum is being linked with CL clubs we really need to stop messing about signing squad players and get this vital cog signed up, then worry about RB and CB cover players

except none of those besides wijnaldum are linked with CL clubs..
