Summer transfer speculative hopes and dreams

There's a difference between keeping the forum open for us all to use and using the forum to elevate your own opinions at the expense of others.

Since we're playing the word game. You might want to look up corruption.

If you wish, we can continue to discuss the merits of shakira playing at number 10 all day and all night, neither of us will see the others POV, for me, hes a winger, who can play as an ACM, not a playmaker, when discussing the player he wanted, Martinez said a "David Silva" type, thats somebody who sits and pulls strings with their ability to create.

Shakira for me is a "Ronaldo", a player that attacks with pace.

Theres lots of different types of "number 10s", for me, Shakira is the wrong type.

Thanks for gettting us back on topic - even speculation has its slow days....
Any update on Stoke's powers of persuasion on Shaqiri?

God knows, im sure he will sit it out for a day or 2 and wait and pray somebody else comes in.

I would take the lid, ive watched him have some outstanding games, but then ive also watched him stink the place out, still, worth a punt IMO.

The Del story they used totally different language, no ifs or buts, but concrete he'll sign for Everton. They had a genuine source, they don't stick their necks out for nothing.

Know little about the Shaqiri story but I doubt we actually put a proper bid in. If we had, he'd be at us not Stoke.
But that's because the Deulofeu story was a definite.

They can't say Spurs are definitely interested because there's no way to prove that without a quote and Spurs obviously don't want to make that public at this point.

I think the more established the paper the more likely it's not click-bait but we simply don't know which is the problem. There's no way to tell.

That's the reason why I think if we're going to have a system and I'm not against it since I suggested two threads to begin with then it needs to have clear rules. Not rules that are a little bit grey and open to interpretation. People were arguing the other day that the Gazeta de Sport was jarg when it's possibly the most reliable source you can get.

I still don't understand why the credible thread can't become a pure links thread.

From what I've seen - I think he's better as a playmaker.
I watched the Switzerland v England game last September - and he looked really good - definitely a class above everyone else on the pitch - except for maybe Rooney.

I suppose it depends and what people or infact Martinez classes as a playmaker.

Are Messi and Ronaldo playmakers?

Ive heard people call them that, for me they defo are not, it doesnt take away their talent and ability to make plays, but it comes back to definition.

Well, Messi has more assists than goals I suspect. Every thing goes through him.
Definitely a playmaker.

Not really but they are x factor players-i see what you mean though

Its a joke, an utter joke, how can somebody as shockingly out of touch with modern football still have such a high profile well paid job.
Perhaps 'playmaker' in the mold of Pienaar is more the thought, not neccesarily a Pirlo. The goal would be to have someone capable of breaking down a tight defense, regardless of their position in the starting line-up. Seems like that was missing from last season when Pienaar or Osman were not around.

He did mention the loss of Osman and Pienaar as being vital.

But then would you say David Silva, positionally wise, is Osman or Pienaar?
