Pretty much nailed on that he's leaving Celtic
The only sticking point is whether they can hold onto him for the crucial Champions League qualifiers
Ideally, he wants to leave before the crunch qualifying games, but the club wants him to play in them and then sell him afterward
Thusly, Celtic will probably turn down any offers until they know they've made the CL Group Stages or that particular campaign has run it's course
From what I've been told, we expressed interest in him in January, but have made no approaches since the season finished
Swansea have suposedly been sniffing around. Ideally, he'd want to go a club higher up the food chain
We're not an outside shot or anything, but we're not first in line for him either
Celtic suposedly are not intersted whatsoever in a McGeady + Money deal. They don't think McGeady is what they need and the supporters would not be pleased to see Van Dijk go at a reduced price in exchange for having McGeady back at the club. It's that they don't like McGeady, they just want the money as times are tight north of the border these days. They feel they have options on the wing and McGeady coming in wouldn't automatically improve them enough to justify reducing any money they could make from Van Dijk's sale
They feel Van Dijk could honestly go for between 6-10 million, and will be pushing most clubs for at least 8 million. This would of course be a big proffit for them
Van Dijk is keen to leave as he feels his international hopes would improve if he played in a bigger league
Teams in both England and Germany have been looking at him. Germany would appear to be his preferred destination but he wouldn't mind going to a club in England if it was the right move for him
Again, he'd see us a decent option and has respect for the club's standing. We come in with a good offer and he'd certainly consider it, as would Celtic. We're not his #1 destination of choice, but that's mainly because we haven't pushed very hard to establish ourselves as that. We've been kind of on the fringe looking in, so it's only natural he'd be weighing his options
