I think that if there's one position we need to fill, it is that no 10 position
Very much this.
I feel it would balance and boost the squad.

I agree which is why I'm having a debate on the likelihood of McCarthy leaving to drop Barkley into his position on the McCarthy thread. How many assists does barkley have over 2 seasons? he cant play that role
Ged, how many did he have last time he was with us?
We've needed a proper number 10 for many years, even in the moyes years we needed one many times
Barkley is droppable, he shouldnt be starting every game if hes not performing.I agree which is why I'm having a debate on the likelihood of McCarthy leaving to drop Barkley into his position on the McCarthy thread.
As for Deulofeu. From watching him for both Sevilla and us I think he's better suited to playing in the middle. He certainly has the ability and plays loads of through balls when played there. I'm not however sure it will be this season or whether Martinez sees the same but I personally would like to see.
LukakuCleverly and Lennon would provide the defensive cover to allow Baines and Coleman to get forward and Deulofeu could ping the balls into Rom. I also think having both Barkley and Deulofeu as two players who can go past people in the middle would greatly help us open teams up as teams would have to double up on them leaving players out of position. If they didn't double up on them and they beat their man then someone would be drawn out of defence again leaving space for Rom. The problem last season was Rom was out numbered because McCarthy and Barry are both too static with the ball and Barkley is better suited to dribbling past players from further back so the space just wasn't there for Barkley to play the ball into.
Cleverly Deulofeu Lennon
? Barkley
It's obviously a formation that depends on how highly you rate Deulofeu so feel free to disagree but I think he's capable of playing that role.
Barkley isn't drop-able. I'm not willing to give up on our one big academy hope after a poor 2nd season in an under-performing side when we all know his best position is as a No8 not a No10.Barkley is droppable, he shouldnt be starting every game if hes not performing.
Del has never played number 10 in his life i believe so why start now.
I wonder if Real would take a swap deal. Denis Cheryshev for Mirallas.
I think Kev would go for it and they're rated about the same in value.
Why he's a left sided winger with 7 goals and 10 assists for Villarreal, a team that got UCL. He could be our No10 and has a reported value between 10m-14m who Real aren't willing to sell without a replacement and Mirallas would kill to go to Real Madrid.Come on mate.
Of course he is, no one is saying give up on him, but if hes not performing put him on the bench and have someone else play.Barkley isn't drop-able. Also drop Barkley now and he will be sold for peanuts in a year. Play him next year either with better players around him and I think he will be much better.
FFS what is it with you saying turn every player into a number 10Why he's a left sided winger with 7 goals and 10 assists for Villarreal, a team that got UCL. Why's that so stupid an idea?
There's a difference between having his as a default starter who occasionally gets dropped and a default squad player who occasionally starts. If he goes from a starter in his first 2 seasons to a squad player the writing is on the wall and any team perhaps looking to buy next summer even just to fill their English quota will know he only has two years left and he will want to leave so will pick him up for buttons.Of course he is, no one is saying give up on him, but if hes not performing put him on the bench and have someone else play.
We don't all know his best position is number 8, potentially it is but hes still unproven there and the way he can needlessly give it away and dally on the ball, would be foolish to put him there and leave him there for a season, pick and choose the moments when to play him there, and rotate him in the number 10 position with the new playmaker we hopefully get.
But not one player in that squad should be undroppable if under performing so regularly
That's because when we talk about a No10 we generally mean a Pienaar replacement. When most people talk about a No10 they mean where Barkley plays. It depends on the context but I agree it's confusing as hell.FFS what is it with you saying turn every player into a number 10
Well maybe he should be a squad player looking to break back into the first 11, might give him the kick up the assThere's a difference between having his as a default starter who occasionally gets dropped and a default squad player who occasionally starts. This is the season we all need to show our faith in him or sell him now and personally I don't want to sell him.
Personally I don't know much about him. I can't say I followed Villarreal much however he's a report on him.Cheryshev was my prince of men on Football Manager. Single-handedly won me the Europa League. If the RS get him, or alternatively if we get him and he turns out to be pony in real life, my heart will be broken.
