VVD is great in the air, solid, but his main strength is his ball-playing, setting up attacks with his passing, short-range and long. If we're going in for him I wouldn't personally want us to spend a club-record fee on him.

I posted a reply in the world football forum but in case nobody goes there, I reckon this is bad. Sky sports saying premier league will drop investigation as Liverpool apologised.

Does that mean the worst punishment for clubs is they can't sign the player they were tapping up? What about Lukaku saying he's already agreed terms with a club and what about athletico madrid having their embargo upheld. Seems like something dodgy going on.

Sometimes it's all about making a statement of intent. Signing a top player over your rivals/neighbours gives everyone at the club especially the fans a morale boost and says your a club with ambition.

Whereas we are too busy selling Lukaku and Barkley and putting in silly low ball bids In for very good players... oh and chasing teenagers from the championship for the under 23s.
