To top it off, Zivkovic pulled the feat off after 93 minutes of football and still managed to find the back of the net with a composed finish to seal the deal for his side.

Sometimes it's all about making a statement of intent. Signing a top player over your rivals/neighbours gives everyone at the club especially the fans a morale boost and says your a club with ambition.

Whereas we are too busy selling Lukaku and Barkley and putting in silly low ball bids In for very good players... oh and chasing teenagers from the championship for the under 23s.

He might well be a good player, but goals in the Dutch League mean basically nothing and less than nothing when it's not even with the first team. Wiki also says he only scored 9 in 34 for Utrecht in the league.

So people will want this guy because he's fast, but a player like Giroud who bangs them in roughly 1 in 2 for Arsenal in the Premier League is unwanted because he's slow. Makes no sense.

He scored 9 in 21 starts in the league (15 in 25 starts all competitions), and possibly played right-wing not up front in all of those games. He came off the bench 13 times. Wiki is unreliable because it doesn't show that.

He's only 20 so has potential. Ajax don't sign crap players! Suarez impressed in the Dutch league too. I don't get why people think only England or Spain matters. Everyone respects the Netherlands when the World Cup comes round. I mention Zivkovic only as a replacement for Deulofeu, not as a striker.

As for Giroud, I don't think he excites me as a replacement for Lukaku. We don't play like Arsenal either.

I don't know how many times you've seen him but honestly he isn't that good. When he signed with Ajax he told everyone that he would be playing with a European top club in 3 years. He scored 12 goals this year and he had loads of minutes of play.

Anyway he's off to Oostende, so ship has sailed. He's going to replace Dimata.

1. We don't play like Ajax or Utrecht either.
2. The fact that you don't know whether or not he played right wing or striker means you probably haven't seen enough to know how he was in those games regardless.
3. He was only good enough to start 21 games for Utrecht and came off the bench the other 13? Doesn't scream quality does it?
4. It's a gamble relying on players from the Dutch league to score goals. Yes, there was Suarez. There was also Jannsen, Altidore, and Alves. The list goes on.
5. Giroud might fit our style better even as he has the ability to bring other players into the game more than Lukaku, and if we sign up Siggy, he's an arial threat.
6. Ajax sign plenty of crap players. They just don't make it to the first team. Possibly like this lad.

De Vrij was unbelievable in the 2014 WC. Couldn't understand our hesitation to buy him every transfer window since. Huge value for money.. why didn't RK go for him last season? Don't get it. Now it appears too late.

If he ends up the RS my opinion of our transfer skill will be at an all time low. thats saying a lot after last year.

Because he's had ten separate injuries in less than three years including his knee exploding after the world cup mate
