What are your thoughts on Dimata? I think he'll thrive in the Bundesliga just hope he gets ample minutes.

He should do well. He is big, strong and can score goals. He also has a decent technique and is good at holding up the ball. He is one of these strikers that's constantly hassling the defense because he's running all over the place, making runs...

The majority of the defenders in the JPL voted him the most difficult striker to play against. Not Onyekuru or Theodorczyk. Towards the end of the competition they just kept kicking him, he never retaliated. He needs to develop his inner bully a bit more maybe in dealing with such players.

Like you say it's imperative he plays though for his development. Lots of examples where it has gone wrong because of this. He seems like a bright kid though so hopefully Wolfsburg gave him assurances.

1. We don't play like Ajax or Utrecht either.
2. The fact that you don't know whether or not he played right wing or striker means you probably haven't seen enough to know how he was in those games regardless.
3. He was only good enough to start 21 games for Utrecht and came off the bench the other 13? Doesn't scream quality does it?
.

I never claimed to know how good he was, but neither does anyone know how good he will turn out. I watched a lot of him on youtube and guessed he could play right-wing. The links on whoscored.com confirmed he plays attacking midfield right and striker. Deulofeu is likely leaving, so we need numbers and bodies. I was only showing the forum some awesome speed in a unique goal! I could make the same points about Giroud. He was only good enough to start 11 games for Arsenal in the league in 2016/17. Even Rooney managed more starts in the league than that and apparently he's past it, and he'd have made more if he wasn't injured for lengthy spells.

Depends on the players and what you mean by fixing. I'm not one that expects this summer to get us to top 4. I expect it to improve the squad to the point that we're legitimately challenging for top 6. 4 new players (1 of whom is our new striker) could make that possible. I wasn't thinking keeper in the original post, so let's make it 5. I think that's realistic. 5 new players out of first 11 with 2 replacing sales. Not sure how we could ask for much more.

Five would be great. I meant Fixing our current problems, or lack of squad depth, creative force and soon to be goal threat.

New keeper
Coleman out (cover)
Baines and Jags another year older (kenny holgate?)
Barry, done
Barkley may leave
Rom looks to be gone
Bolaise out

Loss of squad players
Kone
Clevz
Del?

I think we should have troubled the top 6 this year a little more. Getting the win at OT would have helped but it wasn't to be. I agree totally that it'll take a few windows.

January I believe is when they can resign. Tis the world we live in, just ask the RS and there tapping up with no prosecution

Or City failing to comply with FFP.

Just pay a fine.

lollollol

Meanwhile some lid in the 2nd division gets fined more for missing training than some club whos whole stadium has made monkey chants for 90minutes.

Modern football, aint it grand.

So let's compare someone sitting behind Alexis Sanchez and still managed 12 premier league goals to someone who couldn't start consistently for the 4th place team in Holland? No. You said, "We should be after him." Why? He's done nothing to prove hes anywhere near good enough. If Everton played in the Dutch league we'd be pushing for Champions League every year as is, and this guy couldn't start consistently for Utrecht. Apologies if it seems I'm having a go, but I genuinely don't understand why half the people here seem to think signing random fast foreigners from average leagues that no one has seen is the answer when a quality quality striker like Giroud who is guaranteed to get goals and make the squad better gets shut down by so many. Of course now that I've said all this Walsh is probably secretly eying the lad, and he'll come in and be boss.
