Gylfi is not as good of a player as Ross Barkley.

Set pieces aside. He is flavor of the month, failed at Spurs and is a big fish in a small pond at Swansea.

Ross gets far too much stick because A) His consistency is still off B) He hasn't signed a new contract and C) People actually watch him and he isn't perfect, whereas Gylfi on MotD or Klassen on youtube have a lot less flaws.

It's insane to watch people twist themselves in knots to say Ross Barkley isn't good enough and then demand we pay 25 million + on Siggurdsson.

Pochettino has acknowledged that he actually wanted to keep him but his hands were tied as the deal had already been agreed.

So no, not strictly true.

Sigurdsson at this moment in time is a better player than Ross Barkley.

In the long run, given their respective ages and potentials, then of course, I'd rather keep Ross.

But if Ross does leave and we got Sigurdsson in, I think we'd have actually improved the team.

Sigurdsson is more productive than Ross, Ross is more involved. Personally I'd like to see Sigurdsson join. A lot of his games have been for Swansea and his stats hold up.

Ross has been in the first team for four seasons. He said himself at the start of the season he needed more goals and assists and to be more clinical. He hasn't done that.

I'm not saying he didn't have an effective season. The unfortunate thing is, Koeman's system is better suited to other players, that's just the way it is, it takes nothing away from Ross' ability. Ross could flourish in another team.

I'd like him to stay and do well. But if Koeman doesn't want to wait for Ross to be more productive, it is what it is. Sigurdsson doesn't sound an attractive prospect, but he fits the bill of what the teams is lacking.

So you're slating Gylfi saying he failed at Spurs which is untrue. If we sell Ross to West Ham does that mean he failed at Everton? In addition you're saying those in favor of him only watch MOTD or Youtube while you're able to say no to him while theoretically doing the same?

Contrary to your beliefs I've watched quite a lot of Swansea, especially when Bradley was manager, and I also watched every Iceland game at the Euros last year. Over the past year or so I'd say I've seen about 20 full matches of the Iceman. Compare that to roughly 40 for Ross. Gylfi currently makes Everton better than Ross does. I'm fine keeping both but given one or the other, Gylfi is a better player today.
