Summer Transfer Window 2017

With now 3 long term injuries and a few players out the door you would imagine we'll have to bring alot of players in during the summer.

Niasse: £10 million
Deulofeu: £10 million
Cleverly: £8 million
Jagielka Free
Lukaku: £75 million
Barkley????
Mccarthy???

Add in Coleman, Bolasie and Mori injured to 2018 we will need a good few numbers coming in.

Personally Keane for £20 million and Kone on a cut price £18 million deal would make good financial sense to bolster our CB options. We'll need another RB AND LB alongside a GK. Then your talking another 3 strikers with Niasse, Rom and Kone leaving Rooney on a free with 2 big name forwards coming in would be ideal.
Why would we sell niasse

He's a proven goalscoarer in the Prem

If he was good enough, don't you think Jurgen would have had him bypass Uni considering everything he said about getting younger players to Europe and pushing Jordan Morris to do go pro when he was at Stanford? Seems strange.

...I don't know, Matey. It sounds like he's visiting a few clubs which suggests he's no superstar but goalies do tend to develop late. If he's got the right ammunition (size, technique, bravery etc) a club might feel they can develop him.

Defoe will be leaving Sunderland for free this summer.

Any takers? No fee, relatively low wages, experienced, great goalscorer, can still do it at the highest level, England international...

Robles
Coleman
Williams

Barkley

Mirallas

If we're looking at the start of next season then the five players in bold would be the only ones I'd be fully confident of pushing us into the top four.

Potentially we would need;

GK -- Over the past few windows I've named a few keepers who could come in from overseas but now I feel that we need to sign someone who is less of a risk and can (like our team) continue to improve, for me at this time that means either Butland or Pickford

RB -- Due to Colemans injury we will need a new right back. We have Holgate, Kenny, Pennington, Browning and Connolly. From what I've seen myself I'd stick with Holgate with Kenny and Connolly as rotation/back-up.

LB -- Baines isn't getting any younger but we do have both Galloway and Connolly behind him who have been adequate cover. I would like to add one of, Tierney or Chilwell.

CB -- It's miraculous that we have such a good defensive record with our average at best centre backs. We have Williams who brings experience as well as Galloway and Holgate who can mature into quality players. However, I think we need to bring in top quality here which means one of: Gimenez, VVD, Lemos, Manolas or a player of that quality and I think Keane would be a crucial signing mainly because of nationality.

CM -- Beyond Gana, Schneiderlin and Davies we have McCarthy and Besic who I rate but are injury prone as well as a past-it Barry. Here, I think we need to add two players such as Kessie, Tielemans, Locatelli, Neves and promote Walsh.

AM -- We have Barkley but need someone to play alongside him, for me both Lookman and Calvert-Lewin are good enough to be backup or rotation options but we need another starter here. I think we should bring in England u21 captain Hughes or Loftus-Cheek

CF -- Beyond Lukaku we have nothing, we can look at Dembele, Dolberg or similar but perhaps closer to home at Chelsea, Solanke or my choice of Abraham.

Pickford / Robles
Holgate / Coleman / Kenny
Keane / Williams
Gimenez / Galloway
Tierney / Baines / Connolly
Gana / Kessie
Schneiderlin / Walsh
Davies / Tielemans
Barkley / Calvert-Lewin
Hughes / Lookman
Lukaku /Abraham

We of course wont have the cash for all 8 players but hopefully we target similar quality.

I'd also like to see Walsh bring In Hirst at Sheffield united as well as the forest teenager linked but most importantly Ryan Sessegnon who appears to be the new Ashley Cole.

You can't only quote only 5 players who will push us on to top 4 next season and then have a transfer policy which would see us have to wait about 4 or 5 years before it can bare fruition. Nevermind the fact that most of those aren't good enough for us when they reach their prime.

Bizarre how our 5 defenders (including GK) aren't good enough for the top 4, yet 5 of our 6 attackers are considering we've scored the 6th highest amount of goals but conceded the 4th least.

You don't think that Pickford, Tierney, Keane, Gimenez and Will Hughes would walk into our first 11?

If you look at them individually performance wise this season none of those I mentioned have been top notch...could you honestly say that Baines, Mori or Williams have had great seasons? Coleman is out so isn't included for the start of the season...as for Robles, I like him but Pickford and Butland would be available so its a no brainer to strengthen.

I think our defence has improved at set pieces but also with the midfielders having a lot of pace and power compared to Barry playing

Buts that's not going to strengthen the side when the money used on those players could help fill a gap, better to do that them to double up on a slot that doesn't need to be addressed.
