We weren't safe until we played the 36th game of the season and Leeds failed to win theirs.

Dont know about you, but if that happened again I think I'd feel part of a relegation battle...a real one.

It didn't feel as horrendous at the time because we'd all been through seasons far far worse a few years earlier, so we were quite blase about it.
 
The only way to keep lukaku is to make major signings..... siggunson is good but not the level we need to show rom and the rest of the league that we mean business. We need a summer like city had when they brought in robinho

Without Lukaku going I would like us to sign Sigurdsson, Keane, Rooney and then a block buster signing on top of that to make people pay attention.

If Lukaku goes then it feels like we are almost at the drawing board again.

Looks like Cleverly, Niasse, Kone, Mcgeady, Valencia will be out the door anyway.
 

Just thought about some posters saying we cant replace an entire defence...koeman made a name for himself at Southampton by doing similar and if our defenders aren't individually good enough then why keep them? We can suffer with the current players and add one or two top players to the group but there will still be the weak links or we can gut the defence and make sure they grow as a unit

Good shout this...we do need a whole back 4, but we also need a better keeper and a new forward and come to think of it more qulity in midfield, RK said we only need 1 more window tho and we will be ok.....impossible job imo

These are the places i feel like we need to improve; and thats not to say the other positions are perfect either. Also if we get Europa League we will have to address our squad depth - whether that is through promoting youth players or making transfers. With FFP i don't think its realistic to think that all of these positions will be filled but perhaps bringing in a top CB and a top attacking midfielder / winger with a couple good youngsters would suffice.

I'm not the esk like. But I don't think ffp will be a problem. With the new sponsorship deals. And profit made on sales. I.E. cleverly & Geri and maybe one or two others.

Think we need another attacking number 10/wide player. So in your team Barkley can drop into one of the gueye & davies positions.
And buy one top class Striker. And a young one as well.

I hope FFP doesn't come into it - i think this will be a massive summer for us; a chance to really show people where we are heading. For me the most important thing will be keeping Lukaku and Barkley, if we can get more players with the quality of Schniederlin and Gueye around them we will surely start winning things.

I'll be sad to see Deulofeu leave also; brilliant player on his day - still think he could have had a place this season

RB backup (Veltman)
CB starter and leader (de Vrij)
CB starter (Ben Gibson)
LB backup (Charlie Taylor)
CM box-to-box (Tielemans)
LW creative starter (Sigurdsson)
AM creative player with an eye for goal (Rooney)
ST backup who can challenge Lukaku (Demarai Gray)

Tielmans has been playing attacking mid this season
Sigurdsson isn't a left winger
rooney isn't an attacking mid
Gray would in no way shape or form challenge Lukaku for his place
