The thing is, I think Dave might actually watch it, which excites me somewhat

I think some people miss the point that, despite Moshiri being here, we don't have the budget to fling money around at will, especially with FFP rules in place also
If we sign, say, 6 players, there's no way all 6 will be big names on big money. Maybe 3-4 of them might be, but the others will either be young prospects or experienced unglamorous pros who can do a job and are an improvement on what we already have
Any realistic transfer lists will take that into account
Sorry to be the bi annual buzz killer in the transfer thread, but I speak truths
For example, my list is a mixture of two big names (Lacazette and Mata), two established Premier League players who won't come cheap (Van Dijk and Keane), and two younger players with great future prospects (Tierney and Loftus-Cheek)
The only time we faced relegation in the last 15 years was when ginger took us to 17th in the table.
I know mate, but that doesn't discount the fact that they won it with that pair of lumps. You don't 'need' a ballplaying centre half, you just need the tactics right to accommodate 2 that 2 lumps.
Been through this before: you are dead wrong.Errrrm Dave, we weren't ever in any danger of going down that season, the bottom 3 where that far adrift 17th was well well clear with weeks to go (hence us tanking the last 4 games and still finishing i think 6 points clear)

That season we were safe with just two games to go. With three games to go Everton were on 39 points, Leeds were in third bottom on 32 points and could have caught us.
That was the last relegation threatened season we faced. It might not have been a cliffhanger in the Wimbledon and Coventry sense, but it was the last time so near to the end of a season we could have fallen through the trapdoor. The same feller is about to hurtle through it this season with Sunderland.
We signed 6 players on big money, then we'd probably fair worse than what you suggest is more likely mate, history shows that if you bring in too many 'names' or too many changes to a starting 11 then the season after is effectively always gonna be less than the parts suggest it should be
2-3 players coming in who are instantly coming into the starting 11, 2 who are vying for a starting 11 spot, and 2-3 who have the potential as they progress and develop to break into it would be the perfect situation.
VVD, Keane, Siggurdson, Butland
Tielmans, Dolberg, Pickford, some target man cf
Solanke, Roberts, Sessegnon, Hurst
Not all of them but something along those types of players
....mate?
I think we will look at another DM / box to box too.
McCarthy looks finished and Barry is too old. Cannot realistically look at Gana, Schniederlin and Davies playing there over an entire season.
We look light going into tomorrow's game and we only have league games on our fixture schedule.
Personally I think that will be the last place RK will look to buy in the summer. Even if barry and McCarthy leave.I think we will look at another DM / box to box too.

Was that the season we lost 5-1 at city last game?Sorry mate been busy with the nipper, rember that season well, never ever felt we'd go down for a second. Leeds 7 points off with 3 games left, meant we'd have to have lost all three and Leeds to have won all 3, given Leeds goal difference, after the first of those games we where mathematically safe and mailed in the last two losses.
Crap season, yup, where we bricking it about going down, nah mate, and if you remember differently that's your own prerogative
I disagree. We had an appalling end to the season that ultimately dragged us from mid table to 17th, but we were never seriously in the mix.The only time we faced relegation in the last 15 years was when ginger took us to 17th in the table.
