Summer Transfer Window 2017

Crazy to think we could have got Dembelle in for next to nothing last year.

Celtic turned down a 30 mill bid from Chelsea for him in Jan, just putting it out there.

Patrick Roberts is were its at anyway.

I think we could get Dolberg. Klaassen is here now and I think he's fine to stay at Ajax and develop but also would be open to Koeman.

His comments about staying were then dismissed by him a few days later, hes basically said hes happy there but not discounting anything.

Honestly, if its a choice of the feyenoord forward or a potentially world class player for a bit more cash then the choice seems obvious to me

Different types - Dolberg has a bit of everything in his game, whereas the lad from Feyenoord is a big lump of a striker.

I think we need maybe three forwards all of differing styles and levels of experience - Sandro is the first one but at age 21, I think signing another really young kid (however talented) is a slight risk. I'd prefer someone around the 24-26 mark who will still have significant re-sale value but more experience.

I wouldn't even look at batshuyai.

For me, its Sandro on the left, dolberg in the centre and a 'lets see' on the right...

Sandro has a tenancy to drift to the left, but his excellent form at Malaga appears to have been almost exclusively whilst playing as a striker

Don't think we should be buying a player and then changing the position he plays

Versatility is a strength, but I wouldn't buy him with the left wing role in mind - in any case I'm almost certain you'll see Sigurdsson will be playing that role for us by 1st September

I'm one of those who rated VVD when he was at Celtic and was gutted we didn't get him. He stood out and looked real quality, even when taking into account the state of the league.

But I don't quite see that with Dembele. I think he's a good player though, and he has the potential to improve. So whilst I don't necessarily think he'd be a blazing success here and would have a lot of work to do, he's probably worth a punt.

He'll cost 30-40m though mate, so bit of a punt wouldn't really describe it, they are asking for a lot more money than his form to date warrant, basically asking for top top fee for someone whose still entirely potential (Berahino mark 2 maybe)

Dembele from Celtic would be interesting at the right price.
He looked very promising in the championship with Fulham and has done well with Celtic...but, that was inevitable given the standard there.

We forget how young he is still and has plenty of time to improve .

£30m is the new £15-20m. We've got to wrap our heads around that.

Spurs are reportedly demanding £20m for Kevin Wimmer, for example. And he's a nobody.

Im not sure there is at the price they'd want for him.

I think that the likes of Sandro are going to be the outliers this window, we're not going to see that kind of value elsewhere. Dolberg etc are realistically going to cost Klassen money. With any striker they need time to bed in but Dembele has had a full season of games against physical opposition, CL experience and 'big' games (Old Firm, cup finals). He's as tailor made to slot in as he can be without coming from another Prem side.

The quality of the opposition does worry me a bit admittedly but I think he has the class to be able to make the step up. Personally speaking I'd be made up.

.

Did they though ?

The Chelsea account :

Antonio Conte has dismissed talk of Moussa Dembele securing a deadline day move to Chelsea as mere ‘speculation’ as the transfer window slammed shut.
Conte rejected the notion that Chelsea had made any bid for the striker and insisted that there was no interest at this time from his end.

Celtic's :
Despite reports to the contrary, Celtic sources have denied there was a £40million bid from Chelsea for Moussa Dembele. Chelsea boss Antonio Conte also insisted no offer was made for the striker, calling the story “pure speculation”. (Various)

There might well have been a Chelsea bid but there might not have been , it does seem far from definitive .

I do like him. Just a little wary of the old player scoring a few in Scotland then not doing it here sort of thing.

Call it the Gary Hooper Alarm.

Haha! The Anthony Stokes klaxon. I get what you mean but Hooper, Stokes, even Jelavic were good strikers in Scotland and average ones here. This lad is younger, and has shown more potential. I doubt it'll happen, as most chatter seems to have been generated by The Scum, but I think we can get excited if it does come off.
