Summer Transfer Window 2017

I don't see how Lukaku staying and playing (because no one has bid for him), is any different to Ross staying and playing.
Unless, it's how the manager treats the 2 players?

Because Koeman doesn't actually want to sell Lukaku, it's Lukaku who badly wants out, plus he's a goalscorer so we know he would contribute on a consistent basis. I really don't think Koeman would give a toss if Barkley went, don't think he's convinced by him.

Length of contract. Ross can leave on a free next summer. Rom still have 2 years left.

We have zero desire to sell Rom and will ONLY sell him for a world record fee of 100 mil that no one is likely to pay.

Which means that he will stay, for another season and then the situation will be the same as Ross'.
Will RK then tell Rom he has to sign the contract or leave?

Why would we sell him for less? We have no reason to sell him at all

Because we put a big price on his head so teams start with bids at around £60-70m and then get into a bidding war and the best price takes him. It will no way get to £100m. No one is keen on paying it!

We'll see but I won't be far wrong. I don't reckon he'll go for £100m or close, no chance!
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. Starting to do my head in people thinking its £100m and that's all we will accept. There is no way he will go for £100m! Have the club even put that figure on his head? Have either Koeman, Walsh, Moshiri or Kenwright said such a thing? It's all what the media are spouting! He will go for nowhere near £100m imo. I think it could be anything between £65-80m.

So you think he's worth as low as £65 mil when 2yrs ago Sterling went for £50 mil ?
Stones last year best part of £50 mil ?
Stop underselling our players and get with the Cash Crazy Prem lge.
Pogba £86 mil ?
You really need to adjust your valuation mate.
The price is leaked at £100 mil, if theres no takers he stays , simple as that.

Why are we selling him? We don't need the money, he scored 25 goals last year, he probably score more next year, so why would we want a bidding war?

If Rom stays then he either sign a new contract or he be sold next summer

I am a fan of Rondon but I just am not sure how he fits into KM's apparent wingless wonders style. As a plan b player yes I'd say so but I think he'd want first team football, probably deserves it but just not with us
Assuming we get through the Europa qualifiers, I think he'd get plenty of action even if he's not first choice. Koeman likes a target man. He's a good one to have as an option.

That is the crux of the problem and talking himself into a corner (sign or you're gone ultimatums), doesn't help the situation.

He downed tools at the end off the season looking to ensure he didn't get injured, he simply won't perform if he stays. No point keeping him if he's not willing to give his all. That said it's coming up to a World Cup year, he has a good season to get Bobby to play him in that then has a good WC we could retain the fee we want even with 1 season left. I've just defeated my own reasoning to sell I think??? I'm going to bed....

You could be right, who knows? But if we are to believe that both players were offered significant deals to stay and sign, I doubt that would have been done if RK was not keen or arsed about either one of them. For me, too much has been made of Koeman's original response in a prezzer to the situation with Barkley having only one year left and still unsigned. He was being completely pragmatic, yet from that the conspiracy-theorists have gone to town on Koeman not rating Ross. Notice how quiet Koeman has gone on this since then? Maybe he's learned to not say things that can be wildly interpreted...

With Rom staying and leading the line I could see us challenging for Top4 with Top6 minimum next season.

Would be great if he stayed, which is not looking so unlikely now
