That's it mate, I'll pop a bit more on each when I get a moment. I regard them both as safe signings though. Quite low risk, know the league and Koeman type signings. If we are going for bigger names from abroad we will need some stability to go alongside that.

Schmeichel....not for me.

Not much of a step up (if any) from Robles.

Lacazette and Defoe are too similar IMO.

I mean, if Rom goes then yes Lacazette would be on top of the list of players I realistically reckon we could sign, probably along with Batshuayi as an alternative.
If rom stays I'd consider Negredo if he was cheap enough could be convinced to be back up & boro go down quality player

I can understand that mate and 2 months ago was the same. I saw him at West Ham though and it was a fantastic performance. This goes alongside Robles against Liverpool and Spurs where he really played poorly.

I think a key difference is mentality. Schmeichel seems to ooze confidence and is a big character. He has literally won a league. I think we are missing that. In my lifetime only his dad and Southall have really had that and it made one hell of a difference.

Robles I think looks a very talented young goalkeeper. However at present he seems to shrink a bit in the most critical games. I think that transmits through the defence and our team. Often it's not just about how well you play, but when you play well. Stats can only tell you so much.

The stats are very good for Schmeichel too, his save ratio etc. It's more just an eye test thing though and that I think he will be another character who will not wither in the big games, which is very important for us.

I appreciate he's 31 but this was around the age Nigel Martyn was when we first went for him. I see a lot of similarities and would be very pleased to get him in.

Papers are saying that they're going to hold him to his contract, due to there being no buyout clause.

Meaning he'd be very expensive if he was as to go.

So it looks like Schmeichael over pickford - not sure on that one.
Michael Keane could be the first deal done - happy days.
Rooneys return is a possibility - again im happy.

So if we can get Gylfi too then that is four quality players in, with about 10 possibly leaving.
The big question is this, what if we bring in them four then rom leaves ? Do we buy a decent forward to challenge Rom, only for him to leave meaning we need another big striker late in the window ?

It's a nice problem to have of which the answer is probably already sorted. I want to keep Lukaku by all means, but who's to say his replacement won't get 20 a season?

I tend to disagree buddy.
Memories in football are very short (hence the reason players who are in top form around march, april time always tend to win the individual player of the year awards as no one can remember september/november)
Schmeichel put in some shockers first 3/4 months of the season. Joel has not played the same number of games obviously but his errors or mistakes have been minimal and one offs rather than over a run of 8/10 games.
Saturdays performance and then Tuesdays performance being a very good example of he dosent let one error damage his performance in the next game.
After the spurs game (were i don't actually think he was at to much fault) joel kept 2 clean sheets.
He has put in match winning saves when scores have been 0-0, 1-0 etc to keep us in certain matches over his run in the team.
Cortois has made errors in his last 2 games, lloris made a couple of bad errors vrs city & liverpool recently, De Gea you could say made an error for our goal on tuesday and has a problem at his front post but they seem to be void of any sort of criticism like Joel gets

Putting it out there and setting up little escape route x...

Well, no. It's April and he's heard transfer rumblings. Very early for anyone that. Between now and June, Keane could change course and decide he doesn't fancy a move or we could find a better keeper than Schmeichiel for much cheaper. It's not hard.

I think that's fair mate. On the balance of things Joel has been very good. It may be coincidence that his pot performances have come in probably our two biggest games. My issue with Joel though isn't the quantity of mistakes but when they are made.

Mixed on schmeichel, one thing he does have though is snide and a presence/mentality.

After seeing us roll over in yet another Derby, I do kinda want some of that back in our side.

Would prefer him by a mile over Hart, forster or a few other linked keepers though, ideal situation, buy him, buy pickford and loan him out a year or two like Chelsea did with courtuos

There is the chance that when after him in January we done a deal for the summer mate.

Heard a whisper then about something along those lines.
