All clubs have to sell players
Even the really rich ones
It makes perfect business sense, don't understand the obsession with net spend. Regardless of the rules of FFP it's just plain stupid to go out and spunk 150 million plus whatever in wages and sign on fees whilst keeping all the other players like Mori etc on the wage budget, surely it would cripple the club financially. Similar happened at Villa didn't it?

Didn't they let O'Neill spend a small fortune on relatively rubbish players and it ended up screwing them over the years, I could be wrong on that though.

I'd rather we were ran right as a business and club bringing in quality players by making money off, increasing commercial revenues and off transfers of surplus players and players that want to leave (John Stones).

The whole sell to buy argument is stupid anyway like, if a player wants to leave, then the correct thing to do is sell, and yes I get honouring contracts etc to an extent but really, think about it, if you had someone working for you in your business who wanted to leave but you forced them to stay due to contractual agreement, then they'd just get by doing the bare minimum, quietly fuming while getting paid til their contract is up to go to the job they wanted to leave for originally or another. Happened with Berahino, what good did it do WBA? It's a pointless move. I'd rather take the money the other company was willing to pay for them and get someone just as good or better in who was willing to do the job. I just don't believe that if a player wanted to stay at EFC we'd force him out the door for money, I mean legally it's impossible, a contract works both ways...

Other people are also claiming Keane is done for £20m. Great if it's true but hard to understand why his club wouldn't wait to sell to the highest bidder in the summer.
Schmeichel wouldn't be my first pick but there's no doubt he'd be a step up in quality. Him as No 1 and Joel as No 2. Not too shabby at all.

Keane is a northern lad. Maybe he doesn't want to move to the highest bidder if it is one of the London clubs. They may have tried and he told his club no. That would leave City. As a died in the wool Manchester United kid he might have disdain for going there.

That would leave us. :) We are close to home and can pay an acceptable wage to him and an acceptable fee to his club. Plus, we have a good side and seem to be building on what we already have currently.

I might be way off, but it seems plausible to me.
