I'd take Benteke tbh
Great holdup/pass play from him today but against a team that can't seem to tackle to save their lives. Half the team doesn't even chase the ball. Have a feeling we would produce half the goals we produce now with Rom if he were to be a direct replacement for him. Definitely a downgrade but a great secondary striker option.

I hope we don't sign Rooney. It's a big layout on wages that could be put to better and more long-term use elsewhere, and would potentially inhibit someone else's development.

We could sign him and still make several other signings in key areas and in that case, I would not have an issue with it.

But really if he does rejoin then for me it's still a big nod to a sentimentality that we don't need and should put behind us.

I get that Koeman and Walsh would both have to be in agreement but even then there remain other forces at work at Everton even considering Koemans force of personality.

Signing him would have a sort of doing the wrong thing for the right reasons feel about it. Perhaps there is a view that it would make sense commercially but I also think that it is the sort of signing that Koeman would just be happy to go along with on the proviso that we get a high hit-rate on his main targets in the summer.

WRD on TEF

Deal agreed in principle for a free transfer over 3 weeks ago. Then over the last few days United now asking for £10m for him. (Mourinho)

Rooney apparently seen his arse now. Says we are the only club he wants to play for once he leaves United.

We are going for it big time in the summer. VVD is still the top name on Koemans list.

sounds a bit like the summer with another club trying to take us for a ride, we know we're in the box seat here though, he only wants to come here, they won't want to keep him on the wages he's on so they'll eventually buckle, maybe we'll agree halfway in the middle for £5m. I think £10m is still a good deal mind, but be a bit annoying if they're going back on a deal, if that was done without mourinho's hearsay, you can imagine him being pretty peed off at the club giving him away for free, so you'd understand that.

I don't worry about him being supposedly unfit, koeman seems a bit more ruthless in getting players in good condition, it hasn't taken him long to get our whole squad which was deemed a bit lazy at the end of last season into good shape and finishing games and the season strongly.

VVD & Keane.

This seems to be our ideal summer business for that position, but then, you do see holgate and galloway who i think will both make very good central defenders, as well as koeman supposedly rating pennington and then browning also, we have a lot of youngsters who will be pushed very far down the pecking order if this happens. I suppose we can't rely on them just yet to get us champions league and in 2 or 3 years time jags and williams will have retired and at that point they'll be of good age, but i hope that buying too many centre backs doesn't push those two away.

Pennington and browning i rate a couple of grades lower than them two tbh.

"Everton are ready to reignite their interest in Gylfi Sigurdsson as they begin to formulate transfer plans for the summer.
Ronald Koeman was keen to sign the Iceland international last summer but a move failed to materialise as Swansea were not looking to sell. Sigurdsson has been the standout player at the Liberty Stadium this season and whatever fate befalls his club it is inevitable he will remain in the Premier League.

Koeman remains a fan of Sigurdsson and is looking to make quality additions to his squad that will provide depth with Everton almost certain to be playing in the Europa League.

It promises to be a significant summer of business at Goodison Park, with a new striker also a priority regardless of whether Romelu Lukaku stays for another 12 months or ends up leaving. A prime target at this stage is Real Sociedad’s William Jose. The 25-year-old signed a five-year deal when he joined Sociedad last summer, having had spells with Real Zaragoza, Las Palmas and Real Madrid B, and has scored 10 goals in 18 games.

Steve Walsh, Everton’s Director of Football, has been in contact with Sociedad and more talks are planned in the future."

Siggy is a very obvious signing, perfect for us. Though he'd be forced to play on the left hand side and I can't help but feel he'd be wasted there.

He's played on the left this season for Swansea and been excellent. Different system obviously but our 'wide' players (usually Mirallas and Ross) see plenty of the ball and have license to roam, drift into midfield etc so I can see it fitting.

Willian Jose for £27m is a rip-off as well, £20m absolute maximum imho. He's a good striker but £27m is a no-go.
This. We paid a million more for Rom who'd scored 15 goals in the prem for 2 consecutive seasons.

Tbh. 20 million sounds too much to me. I'd rather go for Santi Mina from Valencia for that kind of cash.
