I'd say he's similar to Gotze out of all of those.

Schurlle and Reus are more inside forwards - Meyer is a diminutive no.10 who can play wide.

That's a blow. Not because I thought we'd ever be in for Rodriguez. But at one stage United were favourites to sign him and that would have put a huge question mark over Mata's future.

Nah, mate. German football 24-7 round here on cable. He was god awful last season but so was everybody else bar Burgstaller when he joined from Nürnberg in the winter.

I have a certain fondness for Carroll. Closest thing in the modern era I've seen to Dunc. Can be unplayable in the air plus a lot better with his feet than given credit for.

Not with his injury record though. Not in a million years.

But secondly, that's literally not offering Swansea or Palace anything is it?

Like, why would they want a defensive midfielder to replace a playmaker or striker?

Not at all.

We signed three players last week but now pre-season has started for all clubs and managers and players alike are back to focusing on the actual games.

There's still time for deals - loads of it - and we've made 5 very good additions so far to give us that extra breathing room.

There's going to be a quiet patch and considering we're now out of the country most of the next week and a-half, I don't foresee anything major happening.

I for one, am looking forward to actually seeing us play again.

Think Palace where linked with him at one point.. And they may have crap midfielders and think hes a good player. Then go out n buy a striker, they can also have Niasse then
