55 mln. could get you a Bonucci type of a player. VvD is undoubtedly good but are you sure that he is that good? As for being the Netherlands' first choice - it is hardly a recommendation these days. Even we beat them last month and our national team is truly awful.

Koeman must have some special kind of relationship, to think he'd even stand a chance of getting someone of the calibre of VVD to the club, over the likes of city, Chelsea etc.
However it is all too apparent watching Everton this season that we require 2 quality centre halves. The purchase of Keane, VVD and tielemans would probably cost in excess of 100m, but those are the type of purchases we need to make should we want to make a realistic challenge at top 4 next year.

Well, we sold Stones for a reported £47.5 million. If there's any concerns about inflated prices for defenders then I doubt we can argue too much.

VVD ship has sailed imo we won't be spending £50 million+ on any player. If they would take £40 Million possibly could see us making a move but I doubt it.
