The thing is, we need to bring in someone on a par with Keane to really set ourselves up for the next few years, but it just doesn't look like we are prepared to spend that sort of money on another centre half.
 

I agree I think we need another CB. I hope RK agrees but we have no indication he does. I also think this team needs Giroud more than Sigurdsson.

Really?? i hadn't realized the window had shut.... damn i'm gutted thought it was open for a fair bit yet :coffee:

It's an option though isn't it. He looked comfortable there the first 2 pre season games he's been used there. And he's played there before back in his Hamburg days so it's not new to him.
 
Think Connolly could be a decent utility player, an all rounder at the back but we can't be thinking of using him as Baines' cover, competition. We need a natural LB to come in and properly push Baines, keep him on his toes and also be able to come in and make an impression.

He is to reckless for the position imo and i think his body will always fail him sadly. He has something i agree but a DCM at best if he stayed fit.
 
I really think we just need one CB, and maybe an up and comer for LB. Remember, with Holgate as our #4 CB we are worlds better than 2 years ago at the position. But we need a 5th in case of injury in cases where we want to play 3 at the back. If Besic continues his form there, he may be that 5th. As much as Id love VVD, its overkill for one offseason, Keane himself has appeared to be a huge improvement.

Plus the improved midfield and attacking side means we will have less defending to do.
