Summer Transfer Window 2017

That's a tricky comparison...as Tielemans has played about 200 games in different midfield roles for a team used to dominating play.

Tielemans started off deep knocking the ball around with either foot, pinpoint passing 10yards up to 40 odd yards left or right footed like a sniper. you could see he was ridiculously talented....Davies and he are both all rounders and I guess the difference would be that when tielemans moved into a centre midfield role (like davies) he just looked 'classy' with incredible technique....Davies seems to be more keen to get stuck in so I guess you could say Tielemans was a bit more attack minded and Davies has more awareness of what space there is around him to benefit the team?

This season I haven't watched much football but when ive seen Anderlecht tielemans has been played further forward and has an understanding with dendoncker so they really link well together. The main difference is that now tielemans has less of a burden to track back I guess and has been shooting from obscene angles 30 odd yard screamers and curlers into either corner with either foot.

If we managed to sign him then I could imagine him playing box to box alongside davies with schneiderlin deep. Alternatively I suppose to get used to English football he could rotate with either davies or schneiderlin.

If we had tielemans, davies, gana and schneiderlin then I think we would just need one more midfielder in the group and we'd be totally set.

It's a bit unfair because davies is in the premier league and just starting off whilst tielemans has 200 odd games in the jupiler league...

I think Tielemans would be the best if not one of the best midfielders in the league after 12months to settle in....davies style of play would compliment him.
A hazard type signing?

In terms of potential quality yes, playing style totally different.

Hazard is all about attack, dribbling, passing shooting etc.

Tielemans is like a more technical Gerrard without the crazy tackles and like a Lampard with his shooting....

If we had something like this;

Davies Schneiderlin Gana
Barkley Tielemans
That's almost like cheating. There's a defensive shield, industry, running, assists and goals in that midfield...its got the lot.

no width in the team if we play with 5 centre mids!

Perhaps even more important than any of the names coming in, it's been beautiful how Koeman has arrived, clocked the deadwood straight away, and proceeded to obliterate them. Our squad was huge and largely pants under Martinez and given another year or two we'd of been left with Cleverley as our best player.

Hoping to see the back of a few more this summer, permanently. Kone, Lennon, Valencia, Niasse, and McGeady for a start. I'd be happy to see Mori, Tarashaj and McCarthy moved on too. Only thing is Rom looks a dead cert to leave so you can't really be losing 9 players in one window. Then again, we need:

1x goalkeeper
2x centre backs
1x right back
1x left back
1x attacking midfielder
3x striker

Hell of a window required.

My thoughts exactly. @Zatara has mentioned attacking full backs and Barkley and Tielemans having free roles, but is this a strength of theirs?

Focusing everything in the centre of the park is one-dimensional and easily neutralised. A strong centre and effective width is the way forward.

I'd have all those players but they certainly wouldn't all be starting together, although we would be much stronger in regards to depth.

..no real width but I suppose that can be supplied via full backs.

I think your right on who will leave, McCarthy, mori, jags possibly also, and deulofeu will go too as well as cleverley who I believe already has triggered a sale in the loan deal, I think we'll keep lukaku though.

On what we need, I don't think we will get a right back, hard to get a better back-up than holgate, have Kenny and Connelly coming through and won't bring in a starter as Coleman will be back and it'll be kept warm for his return.
Left back, think this Bosnian lad for free looks smart business, top level, young enough to sort the position long term and we don't have anything coming through the academy that looks ready to step up.

2 cb s and Borg top quality I agree will be brought in, and we will have Williams, holgate, Pennington and galloway as the depth, maybe even jags if the manager thinks he's got a good 10-15 game season left in him.

Keeper is a given we will bring in a starter I think

We will bring in one attacking mid who can play across the front and not much else in central mid besides may e a cheap punt on a player.

We need at least two strikers, one quality enough to play alongside Rom, and another who can play there but is also natural as a wide forward bit dropped off.

And to add to what you reckon, we will look to bring in an absolute burner of a wide player who like's to drift inside a mane type.

Big and very expensive summer ahead, not expecting us to get everything we need, but optimistic.

What we need in the short to medium term and in the long-term are not one and the same. I'd be surprised if we got this many acquisitions.

I'd be content if we prioritised a strong keeper, one centre back (Williams and co. are okay for now), the attacking player and a striker with Rom.

Obviously if there's departures with the likes of McCarthy or Rom then a replacement should also be sought to directly replace them as well.

Once we've fulfilled these targets, then the likes of another centre back, cover full backs etc can be addressed otherwise we can wait a window.

Mass and sweeping changes throughout the squad will most probably not happen as rightly or wrongly it's not the way Everton work.
